inked materials. The Schmid College of Science & Technology educates students who will become tomorrow's scientists or who aspire to careers in science, technology, and health care professions. We offer traditional majors as well as undergraduate and graduate degree programs that emphasize the application of computational techniques to problems in the natural sciences, that approach health sciences through an interdisciplinary perspective, and that connect the abstract understanding of the environment to present day environmental concerns linked to the watershed, climate change, and natural and man-made disasters. Our faculty have active research agendas through which they mentor students in the pursuit of their own research and scholarship.

NASA has awarded Dr. Joshua Fisher, associate professor of environmental science at Schmid College, two grants to fund groundbreaking research using data from the International Space Station (ISS).

Dr. Fisher's first project tracks ecosystem complexity and biodiversity from space, utilizing cutting-edge satellite and ISS technology to support global conservation efforts. His second project, in partnership with international experts, is developing a famine early-warning system that uses remote sensing and AI to predict food crises months before they hit.

These projects not only advance climate science and global humanitarian work but also offer students at Chapman University unique hands-on research opportunities at the intersection of technology and environmental science.

Last night, we celebrated our outstanding graduates at the 2026 Schmid Awards Night. 🏆

It was a truly special evening filled with pride and joy as we honored our incredible Schmid Peer Advisors, Program Honoree, Special Recognitions and Achievements recipients, and our Outstanding Senior Program Awardees from each major.

A huge congratulations to all of our amazing Schmidsters! We are so proud of our fantastic soon-to-be graduates and can't wait to keep the celebrations going at Commencement this weekend! 🎓✨
