Head Start and VPI helps inquisitive young children build the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond.

*Head Start does not work on a first come/first served basis.

If you are interested in signing up your three or four year old child for Head Start or VPI, please do not wait. Here's what you need to do:
1. Fill out an application here AND turn in all required paperwork so that your file can be reviewed in completion. https://www.ocss-va.org/schools/head-start/apply-now
2. Get your child's physical asap. Children cannot start without a current physical.
3. Please call our office at 540-661-4470 with any questions.
4. Don't wait until the last minute, slots are almost gone!

Had a great chat with a parent this weekend about why they should sign up for Head Start! I got to brag about all the awesome things we do—like serving free breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and getting the kids outside every single day on our playground. I walked her through how we use the Frog Street curriculum to sneak math, science, and language into fun small and large group activities. More than anything, I emphasized our positive vibe: we sing, laugh, read, practice manners, and really treat parents as partners in this whole journey. Fingers crossed they register soon!
