We received notice of this upcoming event on campus:
A currently serving Peace Corps Health Science volunteer will be on campus talking about his work before he heads back to Paraguay on Oct 3rd and finish his final 6 months of service. Please see attached flyer and details attached below. We would love your students to come with questions!
A Conversation with Current Peace Corps Paraguay Volunteer, Jacob McIlvaine
Wednesday, September 26th from 5:00 PM-6:00 PM, USU 204 West Wing
Come hear Jacob McIlvaine, a native of Los Angeles County and a Community Health Volunteer currently serving in Peace Corps speak about his experiences living, working, and traveling in Paraguay. From a Health Science major at Boston University to a Community Health Volunteer with the Peace Corps, Jacob will discuss how he is currently using his degree to promote non-communicable disease awareness and prevention, sexual education, and healthy global communities.
About the Peace Corps: The Peace Corps is a service opportunity for motivated changemakers to immerse themselves in a community abroad, working side by side with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges of our generation. Peace Corps Volunteers work at the grassroots level to create change that lasts long after their service. As a Volunteer, you can make an investment in our world—one handshake, one project, one friendship at a time—that leads to new possibilities in service and when you return home. Volunteers work to help fight hunger, help communities lift themselves out of poverty, teach lessons in and outside the classroom that last a lifetime, build healthy global communities, forge global movements to protect our planet, and empower the next generation of leaders.
To Gather More Information: Listen to this audio workshop to learn how to browse Volunteer openings, find the right program, and strengthen your application, and visit the Peace Corps website at www.peacecorps.gov/apply to search for current Volunteer postings.
