Java's Compost Food scraps composting service for residences, restaurants, cafes and schools. Compost can also be donated to a local urban farm.

We're a backyard composting service helping people divert food out of landfills and create nutrient rich compost to be used on their own property. We aim to get everyone involved in closing the food loop and lessening their carbon footprint through composting their food waste.

🌱 Growing with purpose. Giving with heart.

One of the reasons we planted our garden this year was to give back. We were so excited to harvest fresh vegetables and herbs and donate them to Toni’s Kitchen, a food ministry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair that works to ensure reliable access to healthy food for residents throughout Essex County.

If your garden is producing more than you can use, consider collecting your extra fruits, vegetables, and herbs and donating them to Toni’s Kitchen. A few extra tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, or herbs can make a real difference for a local family.

This is just our first harvest, and we can’t wait to see what the garden produces next. Stay tuned for more harvests—and more opportunities to give back!

🪱We had an amazing time at Far Brook School in Short Hills teaching students all about the wonderful world of worms and composting!

The kids learned how worms help break down food scraps into nutrient-rich compost, why they’re so important for our environment, and even got the chance to hold and interact with live worms. Watching their curiosity (and bravery!) grow was so much fun.
