Chapman University's Tutoring, Learning& Testing Center (TLT) offers a variety of tutoring and testing services designed to assist students in achieving their academic and career goals.

Academic Mentoring:
Students who request academic mentoring will be paired with a peer mentor who will assist them in develop
ing studying skills and learning strategies. Academic mentors provide assistance in areas such as time management, note taking, exam prep, and stress management. Supplemental Instruction (SI):
Supplemental instruction (SI) provides additional support for courses that are traditionally considered more challenging for students. SI leaders attend the lectures to keep up–to–date on
course material and then hold group sessions to provide additional help to enhance student course performance. Historically, students who regularly attend SI sessions earn a grade to a grade and a half higher. Walk-in Tutoring:
Tutoring is provided by current Chapman students who have done very well in the course(s) they tutor and have received a professor’s recommendation. These smaller (or one-on-one) peer sessions are organized by specific classes and subject. Writing Center:
All Chapman students, from first-year to graduate level, are welcome to meet with Writing Center tutors. They can help students with any part of the writing process — from understanding the assignment and finding a significant topic, to aiding in the editing process. Writing Center tutors are available for appointments and walk-in hours. Stop by the TLT to make an appointment. Students can receive help in AN Y writing project, not just English! Writing Center tutors are current Chapman students either in the English graduate
program or undergraduates from various majors who have strong backgrounds in writing. Accommodated Testing:
The TLT administers accommodated testing for students with disabilities to help them succeed in their courses at Chapman. To receive accommodated testing, please contact Disability Services at (714) 516–4520. Want to be a tutor? Tutors are hired in all subjects! Tutoring is a flexible, on–campus job and is a great way to stay on top of your course material while helping others. Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be considered:
• Received an “A” or “A-” in the courses they wish to tutor or a higher course
• Have at least a 3.0 GPA
• Have a recommendation from a faculty member who teaches the course
• Have a character reference from a non–family member or peer
• Have Sophomore standing
