Hello Vanguards,

On Friday, October 16th, is our Homecoming game vs Troy High School. Not only is it our homecoming game it is the 60th Anniversary year of the opening of El Modena High School. We will also be doing a very special tribute for our Legendary Hall of Fame Coach, Bob Lester, who passed away last month at the age of 96.

With that in mind, Steve Almond and Kim Nichols have arranged a meeting place for any and all alumni right by the entrance to Fred Kelly Stadium, by the discus circle on the north practice field beginning at 5:00. The Taco Guy will be there selling food. See the picture of the menu.

The school is inviting any of the football players that played for Coach Lester to go onto the field at the 50-yard line before the game for the tribute for Coach Lester.

The Principal of the school is also inviting all alumni to also go onto the field, and they will have sections by decades for you to stand.

Coach Alan Clinton will be there to lead everybody into the stadium for the tribute. After the tribute we ask everyone to stay on the field as the band plays the National Anthem and after the National Anthem to vacate the field as quickly as possible to avoid a delay of game penalty.

Please pass the word and hope to see you there!

What better way to kick off the school year than with our annual Hello Assembly!

Our students got to enjoy performances from our Band, Vanguard Dance Company, Pom and Cheer Squad, along with a few games where everyone got to have some fun and show off their competitive side.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Rivera and ASB for putting together such a fun event for our students and helping us start the year off right. Also, thank you to all of our staff and teachers for their continued support as our students get settled in and acclimated to the new school year.

Great way to start the year, Vanguards! ❤️💛

From favorite songs and movies to family tributes, cultural pride, inside jokes, future plans, and words of inspiration, the Class of 2026 turned their caps into reflections of who they are and what matters most to them.

Every design tells a different story, but together they showcase the creativity, individuality, and spirit that made this class so memorable.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. Thank you for leaving your mark on El Modena—right down to the very top of your cap.

The best part of high school has never been the buildings, the schedules, or the assignments. It’s the people.

The friendships formed in classrooms, on athletic fields, on stages, in clubs, and in the hallways are what make El Modena special. These are the people who celebrated victories together, supported one another through challenges, and helped create memories that will last far beyond graduation day.

As the Class of 2026 begins new adventures, these friendships and shared experiences will always be part of their story.

Thank you for making El Modena a community worth celebrating.

Forever Vanguard.

One stage. Hundreds of stories.

Each graduate who crossed the stage carried their own journey, their own challenges, and their own accomplishments. Some arrived with dreams already mapped out. Others discovered who they wanted to become along the way.

These photos capture a moment that belongs entirely to them. A moment of pride, accomplishment, relief, excitement, and possibility.

Class of 2026, take a moment to celebrate yourselves. You earned every step that brought you here, and we can’t wait to see where your next steps take you.

Congratulations, Vanguards.

The tassels have been turned, the caps have been tossed, and the Class of 2026 has officially graduated.

These moments are what we’ll remember most. The hugs from family, the tears, the laughter, the deep breaths before walking across the stage, and the realization that a chapter years in the making was finally coming to a close.

Yesterday was more than a ceremony. It was the culmination of countless early mornings, late nights, challenges overcome, friendships formed, and memories made.

We couldn’t be more proud of this class. Thank you for the impact you’ve made on El Modena and for the memories you’ve left behind. Once a Vanguard, always a Vanguard.

Congratulations, Class of 2026.

Today, our Class of 2026 took part in one of El Modena’s most meaningful traditions: the Annual Grad Walk.

After graduation practice at Fred Kelly Stadium, our seniors boarded school buses and returned to the elementary schools where their educational journeys first began. They were welcomed by a sea of excited students, teachers, and staff who lined the walkways to celebrate this incredible milestone.

For many of our Vanguards, it was a chance to revisit familiar hallways, reconnect with former teachers, and reflect on how far they have come. From their first days of school to their final days as high school seniors, this moment served as a powerful reminder of the community that helped shape them along the way.

The smiles, laughter, and excitement on our students’ faces are exactly why El Modena is such a special place. Our schools, families, staff, and community take pride in watching these young men and women grow into the people they are today.

One more step toward graduation day. One more opportunity to celebrate the journey. One more reason to be proud to be a Vanguard.

Congratulations, Class of 2026. Your next chapter is almost here.
