Meet our new cheer coach. Meet Coach Tran!

Hi,

My name is Kaylen Tran, and I am a student at Chapman University! I was a cheerleader for 8 years—participating in recreational, all-star, and high school sideline/competition cheer. I've gained experience both on the mat as an athlete and off the mat as a coach for young cheerleaders.
I believe that students should be fully immersed in their education and given hands-on learning experiences to help them achieve their personal goals. This philosophy extends to extracurriculars, too, including cheer. It’s incredibly important to me that these young girls not only develop their cheer skills but also learn to apply their virtues to every part of their lives.
In our cheer class, we will focus on:

Courage by stepping out of their comfort zones to try new skills and support their teammates.
Honesty is being truthful with themselves about their progress and honest with others in both feedback and encouragement.
Respect by treating their teammates and coaches with kindness and appreciation, creating a positive environment.
Responsibility by holding themselves accountable for their own improvement, dedication, and behavior in class.
Citizenship by working as a team, fostering a sense of community, and understanding their role in contributing to a supportive and united group.

This year, I envision cheerleading as a way for the girls to express themselves and feel like they have a second home. I can’t wait to be part of their journey and see them grow as athletes and individuals!
