What a wonderful day of music at Cal State Long Beach! My students played with so much soul and intention today. They moved past the basics and shared their hearts with the audience.
I’m so grateful to work with these families and to Fresh Start Music Studio for organizing such a smooth recital at such a beautiful venue. 🎹✨

Feeling so proud of my piano students right now! 🎹💖
This month was full of big moments — finishing Piano Adventures levels, completing RCM piano exams, and performing beautifully at our recital. I’m so impressed by all the hard work, dedication, and heart you’ve put into your music.
To celebrate, I handed out achievement pins and magnetic bookmarks, little reminders of how far you’ve come and how much more is ahead.
Seeing you grow as musicians and share your music on stage is the best part of what I do. Keep making music, keep growing and keep sharing your talent with the world.

🎹Today’s recital wasn’t just about playing the right notes.
It was about walking on stage with shaky hands and choosing to play anyway.
It was about months of quiet practice turning into a few minutes of music that filled the room.
It was about courage, patience, and discovering what you are capable of.
Proud of every single student who shared their music and themselves with all of us.
Grateful to for arranging this recital and providing my students the opportunity to perform.

🎉 Huge congratulations to two of my students for their achievements at the OC Sonata and Sonatina Festival! 🎹
Arianna Ko earned 3rd place 🥉 and Rohan Kannan received an Honorable Mention 🎖️—so proud of all the hard work, focus, and music-making that led to this moment. Bravo to both of you! 👏✨

What would you add?
Which one do you relate to the most?
Being human doesn’t make you less of a musician—it makes you a more authentic one.
Keep showing up, heart and all.

🎹 Story time: In my studio, I use little puffs to help students with curved and relaxed hand position at the piano. Their names are Mibbles, Dibbles, Gibbles and Bibbles (see second slide).
This week, one of my students came up with her own version— with a creative twist so she can have her little friends at home. Moments like this is such a great reminder that when children feel empowered in their learning, they naturally find creative and meaningful ways to engage.
P.S. she’s wearing a shirt that says “piano girl” 🥰
