Welcome Derek Liu and Brielle Crovetti - they’re starting off their first week of intern year strong 💪

Congratulations to the ENT graduating class of 2022. From left to right, Drs Michael Berger, Catherine Merna, and Alex Kovacs have completed UCI ENT residency. We enjoyed celebrating their accomplishments yesterday. We could not be more proud of a graduating class. This good looking group of people are going to be sincerely missed. The upcoming residents have big shoes to fill.

Fun filled afternoon of bone plating practice for the residents. They have enjoyed the practice run which should make the real deal easier!

UCI lunch at the AAFPRS Advances in Rhinoplasty conference in Miami. It was great reuniting with everyone!

UCI current and past residents unite in Dallas at COSM. It is great seeing everyone together!

As part of his research rotation, Dr Eric Abello (PGY-3) is spending a month in South Korea. In addition to doing benchwork as part of an international collaboration through the UC Irvine Beckman Laser Institute, Dr Abello has been able to collaborate with ENT residents, assist on thyroid surgeries in the operating room, and spend valuable one-on-one time with attendings at Dankook University and Asan Medical Center. He's finding that while differences may exist, overall, Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery training is similar even across the Pacific Ocean. We can't wait to hear about his experience in-person when he returns next month!

So proud of Alex Kovacs (PGY5) on completing yet another marathon! LA marathon 2022. Congratulations!!!

Welcome our two new UCI ENT residents, Drs. Brielle Crovetti and Derek Liu!! We are so excited to add them to the family. Brielle joins us from Baylor College of Medicine. She enjoys running (and we enjoy that she enjoys running), lake and snow sports, cooking, and has a French bulldog, Douglas (who will be mandatory friends with Hugo, Ashley’s bulldog).

Derek joins us from USC medical school. He did his BS in bioengineering at UC Berkeley (go Cal!!). He enjoys cooking, fitness (hopefully running), and music. Congratulations to them both and welcome to UCI!!! Also, congrats to our medical students Jack and Karthik on their match to OSU and Yale respectively!!!

UCI ENT residents unitefor the inservice exam. I’m sure they aced it and looked good doing it. Proud of them no matter how it turns out.
