๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿšฒ E-bikes have become a big part of how students get around. We are partnering with OC Sheriff to provide E-Bike Safety classes.

Our district is taking a proactive step and implementing E-bike policies for our students who ride to school. Students must complete an e-bike safety class before receiving their permit to park on campus. Weโ€™re proud to be amongst the few districts in OC to put this kind of policy in place. Our goal is to make sure kids have the skills to ride safely, protect themselves, and look out for others on the road.

Attention all e-bike riders to and - We're hosting an E-Bike Safety Training on Tue. 8/18 at 7pm in the PAC in conjunction with . For VP, all returning riders must attend with their parent in order to receive a parking permit. See you there! ๐Ÿšฒ๐Ÿ”Œ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค

Spent a couple of insightful days at Loyola Marymountโ€™s School of Education Secondary Schools Redesign Institute with OUSD administrators and cross sectional education leaders from various sectors including OCDE, CSBA and the State Board. It was inspiring to be in a room with thought leaders whose deep expertise and unwavering commitment to student success were evident throughout.

As a board member, most of the conferences I attend are geared towards a policy perspective. This one gave me a completely different lens. It was interactive and reflective, grounded in real situations and how to improve them. It was valuable to watch our OUSD team process and reflect on what they were learning in real time.

โœ… A shared and clear identity, purpose, vision, and communication drive continuous improvement.
โœ… A strategic compass aka North Star is essential to guide planning, ex*****on, and accountability.
โœ… Create conditions for students to learn, feel supported and to thrive.
โœ… Itโ€™s not enough to look at scores; we have to understand the โ€œhow and whyโ€ behind them.
โœ… Break down teaching silos, through professional learning, shared accountability, and real investment in developing teachers.
โœ…Connection and engagement are key levers for reducing chronic absenteeism and improving student outcomes.
โœ…AI has potential to increase efficiency and support collective work.

I left with a lot to think about, not just what our schools should look like, but how we as a board can help create the conditions for this kind of work to thrive.

Grateful to LMU School of Education for putting together such an conference , and to our OUSD administrators for the work they do every day to bring these ideas to life in our schools.

Something fun for Anaheim residents to do!, Disneyland was magical and fun for my kids and we created the best memories there! ๐Ÿฅณ

Disneyland tickets for Anaheim residents are here.

They go on sale for Anaheim residents on July 16 and are good for visits starting July 20 through Oct. 8.

I had the pleasure of hosting Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino at Aprilโ€™s State of the City to announce plans for a special ticket offer for Anaheim residents.

The tickets honor the shared history of Anaheim, which was founded on Oct. 5, 1857, and Disneyland, which opened 71 years ago on July 17, 1955.

For Anaheim resident tickets, a one-day, one-park ticket is $71, and a one-day park hopper is $104.

You can also combine it with a special $50 kids ticket for kiddos ages 3 to 9.

Park reservations are required. For full details, see https://bit.ly/4vY2dyY.
