💙 Celebrating National Principals' Month

This month, we’re especially grateful for our principal, Pam Costes, and the leadership, care, and faith she brings to Spirit Christian Academy.

Leading a school is about so much more than schedules, decisions, and academics. It means setting the tone and standard for a community, supporting teachers and families, encouraging students, and continually pointing the school back to what matters most -- our Lord Jesus Christ.

Pam’s heart for SCA is reflected in this year’s theme, Making Connections—helping students, families, and staff grow closer as a community and, most importantly, as brothers and sisters in Christ.

We are thankful for the many ways she serves behind the scenes, prepares for each school year, supports our staff, welcomes families, and helps create an environment where students can learn, grow, and belong. Thank you for your example in living out this verse:

🏡 What Happens on an At-Home Learning Day?

One of the questions families often have about hybrid education is: “What do students actually do on the days they’re not on campus?”

At Spirit Christian Academy, at-home learning days are an important part of the school week. They give students the opportunity to continue their coursework outside the classroom while developing greater independence, responsibility, and time-management skills.

Depending on the class and grade level, students may spend their at-home days:
• Completing assignments and coursework
• Reading and studying
• Working on projects
• Reviewing material introduced in class
• Preparing for upcoming lessons or assessments
• Learning how to manage their time and take ownership of their work

The hybrid model gives families greater flexibility while still providing the structure, academics, teachers, and community of a school environment.

It’s not simply “school at home.” It’s a different rhythm of learning—one that allows students to grow both academically and personally. By the time they head to college, they're already great at managing their schedules, projects and assignments.

Making Connections

This year at Spirit Christian Academy, our theme is Making Connections.

We want our students to grow in connection with one another, with their teachers, with their families, and most importantly, with Christ.

Scripture reminds us that we are not meant to grow alone:

“From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
Ephesians 4:16 NIV

What a beautiful picture of community.

Every student, teacher, parent, and staff member has a part to play. As we encourage one another, serve one another, learn together, and build relationships rooted in Christ, our whole school community grows stronger.

Our prayer for this year is that SCA would be a place where meaningful connections are formed, faith is strengthened, and each person understands the value of the part God has given them to play.

A Look Back at Learning in Action

Some of the best learning happens when students get to do more than simply read about something—they get to explore it, create it, discuss it, test it, and experience it for themselves.

As we look back at some of last year’s elementary classroom moments, we’re reminded how much growth can happen through hands-on learning, thoughtful discussion, creative projects, and opportunities to apply what students are learning in meaningful ways.

At Spirit Christian Academy, we want students to be engaged participants in their education—not just completing assignments, but developing curiosity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

A great teacher does more than teach a subject.

They notice when a student is struggling. They encourage questions, celebrate progress, challenge students to grow, and take the time to truly know the young people in their classroom.

At Spirit Christian Academy, relationships are an important part of learning. Our teachers have the opportunity to invest personally in their students—academically, spiritually, and individually.

That kind of connection can make a lasting difference.

When students know they are seen, supported, and cared for, they can grow in confidence, take on new challenges, and become more engaged in their learning.

More Than Classmates. A Community.

At Spirit Christian Academy, school is about more than academics. It’s also about the relationships students build along the way.

Through classes, trips, lunches, activities, service, and everyday moments together, students have opportunities to form genuine friendships and become part of a community where they are known, encouraged, and supported.

That sense of connection is especially meaningful as we begin a new school year.

Our theme this year is Connection, and our hope is that students will continue growing not only in friendship with one another, but also in their relationship with Christ.

We’re thankful for the laughter, conversations, shared experiences, and friendships that make SCA feel like more than just a school.

🍂 A New Season, A New School Year, and a Faithful God!

As we begin another school year, we're reminded that every new season brings opportunities to learn, grow, and discover what God has in store for us.

One of our favorite reminders comes from Proverbs 3:5–6:

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

Whether our students are beginning their very first year at SCA, stepping into a new grade, making new friends, or facing new challenges, we pray that they will learn to trust God and seek His guidance in all they do.

May this school year be filled with growing faith, meaningful friendships, and countless opportunities to see God's faithfulness at work!

⛰️ Your next adventure starts here!

Spirit Christian Academy’s Adventure Leadership Program is more than just an outdoor experience—it’s an opportunity for students to grow through challenge, adventure, leadership, and community.

Throughout the year, students take part in unforgettable experiences like hiking, rock climbing, canyoneering, camping, and exploration that challenge them physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Along the way, students build:
• confidence
• teamwork skills
• perseverance
• leadership ability
• deeper friendships
• a greater dependence on God

With over 20 years of experience, Adventure Leadership has become a meaningful part of the SCA high school experience and continues to make a lasting impact on students year after year.

And as an added bonus, this year-long program can also earn students one semester of P.E. credit!

☕ Tea, treats, flowers, and friendship!

Our Spirit Moms recently gathered for a lovely morning of connection at the Spirit Mom’s Tailgate Tea Party!

Held in the school parking lot, this special gathering gave our secondary school moms an opportunity to enjoy coffee and tea, share delicious treats, and spend time getting to know one another.

The moms also got creative, making beautiful crafts with fresh flowers and assorted tea bags! 💐

Whether they stayed for the morning or simply stopped by to say hello, it was a wonderful opportunity to build friendships and strengthen our SCA community.

A big thank you to everyone who helped organize this special gathering and to all the moms who joined us! We're so grateful for the wonderful community of families God has brought together at Spirit Christian Academy.
