Okay, (I'm sure you're all relieved) here is my final plea. Ben Hur closes this Saturday night at Long Beach Playhouse. As most of you know, I am not one to incessantly badger you about my shows. I'll tell you they are playing and invite you to attend and then let it drop.
However, I am SO proud of the work I did on this one AND, more importantly, the incredible work from my cast (Grant Thackray, Amara Phelps, Devin Ricklef, Eric Schiffer, Carlos Rodriguez, and Jackie Shearn), my crew (Kayla DePrete, Alexander Shewchuk, and Joaquin Guadamuz), my intrepid designers (Spencer Richardson, Miranda Richard, Sam Moss, Christina Bayer, master carpenter, Jesse Bosworth, and Kat Kelly) and, of course, the brilliantly awful choreography by my talented wife, Kysa Cohen.
Finally, small theatres, out of necessity tend to steer toward the safe and proven commodities to keep their doors open. After all, Neil Simon and Agatha Christie fill the seats; but it is rare to find a theatre run by daring inviduals the likes of Madison Mooney and Sean Gray who understand that taking a chance every now and then on a seemingly impossible project like this keeps the excitement alive in the artistic community.
So, please reward these daring, intrepid, insightful and hardworking people by supporting this show and give us full houses for our final two performances. They all deserve it.
If you have not yet seen the show, please buy a ticket or two for this Friday or Saturday. If you HAVE seen it (and enjoyed it), please pass the word, hopefully with your recommendations, and if you saw and hated it... keep your damn mouth closed!! đŸ˜‰
Trust me, I have a guarantee directly from Puppet-Jesus, that filling the house on the 21st and 22nd will definitely reserve you a space in heaven.
Spread the word!
