Kids spend all day being told what to do.

There's something powerful about giving them a place where they get to figure things out for themselves.

They’re peeling the choke. Don’t lose the back.
Kick off. Grab your own shin. Lock the rear triangle before they escape.

That’s the sequence in this video — defend the defense, steal the finish.

One more thing, and this part matters more than the move.
Years ago at a tournament, a guy finished an armbar on someone who was already out. Not tapped. Out. Broke the arm. Don’t ever do that in the gym. Don’t crank after the tap. Don’t keep going when they go limp. We train to get better, not to collect injuries.

Watch the clip. Drill it smart. Drop a question in the comments if the kick-off or the shin grab isn’t clicking.

Most gyms teach you how to fight.

Art of War Jiu Jitsu teaches you how to show up — for yourself, your teammates, and your life.

• Family on the mats, not ego. Kids, parents, and adults train under one roof. Instructors roll with you. People know your name. You walk in a stranger. You leave part of the team.

• Jiu-jitsu is the vehicle. Character is the point. Focus, discipline, confidence, and staying calm under pressure — at school, at work, and at home.

• Everybody belongs. Age, gender, and belt don’t get you sidelined. Tiny’s through adults. Beginners get helped, not hazed.

• Teammates first. Cheer each other on. Compete hard. Come home as a team. Drama doesn’t last here.

• High standard. Open door. Clean mats, real respect, structured classes — and a first class that feels welcoming, not intimidating. Hard work you actually want to come back for.

Fall Into Better Habits

September feels like a fresh start.

It's a chance to trade screen time for movement, distractions for focus, and busy schedules for healthy routines that stick.

Every class is another reminder that hard things get easier with practice.

2 weeks we’ve been going over takedowns for people who aren’t ā€œtruly athletic.ā€ šŸ„‹
You don’t have to be wrestling since the age of five to get a takedown.
And you don’t have to pull guard just because you didn’t grow up on a wrestling mat.
There’s a difference between someone else’s game and YOUR game.
You don’t need elite explosiveness. You need the right entries, timing, and a role that actually fits how you move.
Watch this video and be honest with yourself:
Are you going to play in your natural role… or keep forcing a style that isn’t yours?
Drop a šŸ”„ if you’re done defaulting to pull guard.
Comment ā€œTAKEDOWNā€ if you want more of this series.
Tag a training partner who needs this.
See you on the mats.
