doing what he loves to do-
Training. With his no.1 coach, his dad.
Gabe found himself on a team this season where he simply wasnāt appreciated- or even noticed, for that matter.
Being a newcomer to the team- a team where he was playing up a level- didnāt turn out quite like we had hoped.
Gabriel had grown so much in his skills, that he was ready to work with coaches that would help to improve on what he can already do. We thought he would have a coach that would recognize his talents, and coach him on things that he was ready to learn. But instead, he was benched. Nor was he ever allowed to suit up to catch. Not once.
His coach had been informed of the fact that he plays catcher, and that he not only trained with his father yr round, but that he also took professional, private catcher lessons off season.
But none of that mattered, evidently.
So, he was first pick to be benched- every single game.
Picture day came, and Gabriel was dismissed before the team photo was taken. I paid money for the package that Included an 8x10 of the team photo- only to receive that picture and NOT see my son included. The coach told me it was a simple āmistakeā- that he ātakes responsibility forā. Hmmm..
Over the past 3 seasons, he was the only catcher on his teams.
He was scouted by the travel ball coaches, and then we were referred to this particular team, being told that there was a D1 catcher coaching the team, and that Gabe would receive the coaching he was ready for. This simply did not happen.
So, everything finally just came to a rolling boil-over, We let Gabriel decide what he wanted to do, moving forward. He finally came to me, and said āIām tired of being benched and not given a chance to playā- so, we pulled out of the rest of the season.
He deserves better from the adults that are meant to mentor him.

My beautiful daughter ._ , living the dream!
After being homeschooled, learning from me how to grow gardens, tend to wildlife, and truly connect with nature, (as the basis to our homeschool method) here she is beginning her very own homestead with her boyfriend!
A little over a year ago, my sweet girl moved out on her own. She and her boyfriend moved out of state, to the deep country, on a vast plot of land.
She is taking all that she learned from her momma, and creating a beautiful life of her own.
As soon as her baby brotherās little league spring season is over, he and I will be going out to spend time with her, to help with her new homestead!
First off, sheās beginning with baby ducklings, and her garden!
Soon, she will also have chickens and baby goats!
I will be bringing my experience with me, along with all of the garden journals I kept, as I tried (and failed), and eventually succeeded in growing food from the earth. As a homeschool child, she helped along the way. She is now bringing all that she learned during that time, into this new life of hers!
I feel so blessed to witness this moment- to see first hand how all that I taught her, helped to shape and mold her into who she is today. The freedom to homeschool as we so choose, has provided what brick & mortar public school systems simply donāt teach.
As I watch her new life emerge, I am grateful that I have succeeded in raising such an incredible young woman.
Next up, I will teach her how to can her foods, bake homemade breads, jams, and make medicine from herbs. All of the things she watched me do throughout her childhood, as I studied herbal remedies, aromatherapy, etc- and obtained my certification.
As my daughter prepares a foundation to raise her own family on one day, I canāt help but to feel accomplished!
Connecting with nature, providing natural nourishment for the mind, body, and soul- this is everything I could have hoped for- for my daughter, and the generations that will come next.
As the song says, Butterfly, fly away! š¦ I love you, Aly! We will see you soon! š
Home Field Trip to the candy shop to learn about the science of candy making! Then, Gabriel got to make his very own lollipops š
February 2 is
National Catcher Day!
My favorite catcher, is -
Gabriel Michael no.17 !!
On day 1 of wearing that chest plate in Tball- 7 seasons ago, a fire ignited in this little boyās heart š„
Gabeās teammates call him the ābeastā, as they look up to him- because none of them want to do what he does! Yet my son, at just the tender age of 8, is most comfortable behind that plate! He was born for this!
Not everyone can be the catcher, yet a great catcher is the glue that holds the team together!
As he begins his first season of kid pitch this spring, for the 10U Titansā”ļø - I want to take a moment to share a few pictures from seasons past, and wish my no. 1 catcher, a great season!
Get āem, slugger!
