In a five-week span (the last day of August to the end of September) participants may learn about parts of our area we see but don't always appreciate.

Among the sessions will be a look at old growth oaks, a look at prairies through the perspective of famous naturalist Aldo Leopold, a tour of watersheds around the county and how they are managed, a look at our aquatic environment, and a consideration of locally grown produce and flowers. After Aug. 31, programs will be Sept. 8 14, 21, and 28. Programs will be at 6-8 p.m.

Cost of the program is $80 including online sessions, local program costs and food. Learn more and register at the link in the comments below!

We hope you'll join us for the next Northwest Iowa Local Loop on September 10, 2026, in O'Brien County! We'll start by touring The Kitchen + Bath Studio a one-stop shop for kitchen, bathroom, flooring, and tile needs! Then we'll head over to Solsma's Punkin Patch, with around 65 kinds of pumpkins, gourds, and squash, along with beautiful mums, ornamental and broom corn; there's something for everyone!

Lunch is on your own, but we recommend checking out somewhere local like The Grain House or Jay's Restaurant in Sanborn. The Daily Grind in Hartley, or The O'Brien County Pub, Smolders Brew, Pro-Go Convenience Store, and Pizza Ranch in Primghar.

Register by 4 p.m. on September 8. Register early as space is limited to 25 participants. Call 712-957-5045 or visit the link in the comments to register.

Don't miss this opportunity!! The Master Conservationist program will be held this fall for the first time in partnership with the Sioux County Conservation Board and other local conservation experts. This five-week blended online and in-person series will help participants better understand Iowa’s natural resources, ecosystems, conservation history, and current challenges while learning practical ways to become informed stewards and community conservation leaders. Sessions will be held at various locations throughout Sioux County. The cost for the program is $80 per person and covers meals, activities, and a Master Conservation Goodie Bag.

In-person sessions start August 31 with a trip to Oak Grove Prairie Woods Nature Center. Enjoy a delicious charcuterie board and explore the history and current structure of conservation in Iowa.

Dates for other session include September 8, 14, 21 and 28. Learn more and register at the link in the comments below!
