๐Ÿšจ PARENTS, PLEASE BE AWARE! ๐Ÿšจ

As school is back in session, Chief Graig LeBlanc and the Opelousas Police Department are reminding parents and guardians to be on the lookout for THC-infused edibles and other products that can look very similar to ordinary candy, gummies, cookies, and snacks.

โš ๏ธ THESE PRODUCTS ARE NOT FOR CHILDREN AND CAN BE DANGEROUS IF INGESTED BY A CHILD.

Because some packaging is colorful and closely resembles popular treats, children may not recognize the difference. Parents and guardians are encouraged to:

๐Ÿ”’ Keep all THC products, medications, edibles, and other potentially harmful substances secured, properly stored, and completely out of children's reach.

๐Ÿ‘€ Pay close attention to unfamiliar candy or snack packaging your child may have.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Talk with your children about never eating candy, gummies, snacks, or other items when they do not know where they came from or what they contain.

๐ŸŽ’ As our children return to school, their safety remains a responsibility we all share. Awareness and prevention can make a difference.

๐Ÿš— CAR RIDER UPDATE!

Lion Families, we are implementing a NEW carpool permit (car tag) system this year!

Each family has been assigned ONE car tag number, and all students in the household will be linked to that number. Each family will receive ONE car tag, and additional tags with the same number will be available for purchase online.

This new system will help make dismissal safer and more efficient, especially on days when buses are not running.

๐Ÿ“Œ Tomorrow during afternoon dismissal, administration will hand out NEW car tags while collecting OLD tags.

๐ŸšŒ Typically a bus rider? Your familyโ€™s carpool permit will be sent home with the oldest student this week.

Once received, please place your permit in your windshield above your inspection sticker or in clear view.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we get everyone transitioned to the new system. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’›

See attached flyers for additional details.
