We asked our teachers to give us one positive experience they encountered during the 1st week of school. List below are moments shared:
One positive experience this week for me that made me smile was when one of our students copied Mrs. Sam. She was counting with the pointer. The student took it from her and began to count while repeating what she was doing. ~Tosha Mouton, Grand Coteau EHS
One positive experience I had this week that made me smile was when a new student came in the class and gave me the best hug ever then tapped me on top of my nose. ~ Norma Mason, Grand Coteau HS
One positive experience I had this week that made me smile was when my new student didn't want to go home. He wanted to stay with me when his mom came to pick him up. It touched my heart. ~Chelsea Thomas, Grand Coteau HS
One positive experience I've had this week was seeing many of the returning faces from last year. Many of the families that I have this year, I've had some of their older kids. It's always good to remain in touch with those families! ~Kennette Toussaint, Opelousas HS
Hello everyone, I would like to share one of the several positive experiences I had this week that made me smile from ear to ear! One of my new children that began school for the very first time was very excited and eager to explore all the areas as well as items in the class. When large group time began, we engaged in a conversation and model the different ways we greet each other in the morning. When his dad arrived that afternoon to pick him up from school, he walked swiftly to his dad and his was picked up. I told the child bye have a great day see you tomorrow as he was leaving with his dad. He got out his dad's arms to come and give me a hug bye! We made a connection on the 1st day of school Teacher and Child Building Relationships! He really touched my heart! ~Jontelle Henry, Washington EHS
One positive experience I would like share from this week is seeing one of my youngest students who was having a hard time transitioning from leaving mommy. Today, seeing her walk in to wash her hands, made me smile. She transitioned a little much better than yesterday; she had an amazing day! We all played on the jungle gym; her favorite song is baby shark. Our indoor group experiences were amazing! We were all dancing and singing. Seeing her smiling and enjoying dance movements was a positive experience I loved. It was too cute! ~Aleyah Vallian, Washington EHS
Hello, I would like to share my positive experience that happened this week. I have a new student who has never been away from her mom. The first two days were really hard for her as she would cry and scream throughout the day; she wouldn't engage in activities or play with the other children. I tried everything I could think of to get her to calm down. At the end of the day after snack time, I played music on the carpet, and she didn't dance but she smiled at the others while they were moving around. So, the next day was a little better . I had music playing and when she arrived, she reached her arms out for me. There were no tears, she engaged in activities and danced to the music with the other children with the prettiest smile!! ~Tara Tanner, Lebeau EHS
One positive experience Mrs. George and I have had this week is seeing our new smiling faces enter the classroom this morning AND GOING TO WASH THEIR HANDS WITH OUT BEING TOLD!! Not only are the children picking up on the routine, but the parents are as well by sanitizing hands before they sign their child in. ~Lynn Charles-Jackson, Opelousas EHS
One amazing experience I had on my first week of school is simply connecting with the kids and families. I love how as the kids and I are growing our relationships together, they still love to hug and tell me all of their amazing stories. This year will be a great year! One positive experience Mrs. LeDay and I have had so far this year is seeing our older babies across the hall from us. It brings us so much joy to see how they’ve grown and matured since they were last with us. ~Quadeshia Johnson, Opelousas EHS
One positive experience from our class this week that made me smile was the cooperation and respect we received from every single parent. Every parent has been great with requirements, communication, and giving/receiving feedback. ~Jazzman Burrell, Opelousas HS
