This year, the Juneteenth Celebration in Opelousas will kick off with the LaLa Gala on Friday, June 19 at 6 p.m. at the Evangeline Downs Event Center located at 2235 Creswell Lane in Opelousas. The smiling zydeco cowboy, Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie will perform live. Tickets will be $25.
Then on Saturday, June 20, the 42nd annual Juneteenth Folklife Celebration will take place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Farmers’ Market Pavilion located at 828 East Landry Street in Opelousas.
