Day 12 & 13 of Philanthropy! Yesterday and today have been focused on preparing our presentations for tomorrow’s Donation Luncheon! We are all very excited to share with the community our non-profit of choice and gift our donation.
Today we also spoke with the 15th President of Huntingdon College, Dr. Anthony Leigh. Dr. Leigh explained the role donations and philanthropists play in running a college. He encouraged us all to one day give back to the educational institutions that will shape us into our best self. We were reminded of our love for OHS today and were encouraged for the future. 📚✏️

We ended the day with a tour and conversation with directors of the Spencer Cancer Center. We were given information about volunteering and a tour of the state-of-the-art center. Today’s focus was the Gift of a Day, and both places reminded us that each day is a gift and should be cherished. 🐴🩺

Day #9 of Philanthropy!
Today we started off class with the members of the Village Friends coming to teach us about their nonprofit that assist elderly people. We then constructed floral arrangements to bring to the people the village friends assist. After lunch we then traveled to the East Alabama museum in downtown Opelika. There we learned about the very lush history of the Opelika Auburn area. The museum does a great job about not just showing the good side history but also the controversial side of our towns history which plays in today’s gift, The Gift of Problems. 🚒💐

While there, we got to meet and play with some of the cutest goats, plant butter beans, and stain the wood planks while leaning into todays’s theme, The Gift of Laughter! 🐐🫘🍅
