USA Day in OCS Pre-K πΊπΈ
Last week, OCS Pre-K students celebrated America's semiquincentennial with a fun-filled day of learning and celebration. Students watched a slide show about America and our flag. They also practiced counting all 50 stars and 13 stripes on the American flag while exploring patterns, colors, and maps of the United States. Some classes made a large class flag while others made hats, fireworks paintings, and completed directed drawings of the flag. Students and staff dressed up in red, white, and blue and took fun photos. They also read patriotic books and sang patriotic songs, even singing "Happy Birthday" to the USA. To complete the celebration, students blew bubbles on the playground and enjoyed red, white, and blue cupcakes. What a perfect way to celebrate America on the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! πΊπΈ

β¨π FIELD TRIP FUN! π¦β¨
Last week, Opelika City Schools Pre-K students had the BEST day exploring Choctafaula Ranch! From the moment we arrived, it was adventure after adventure!
Students were amazed as they got up close with incredible animalsβtowering giraffes π¦, powerful bison π¦¬, curious ostriches, slow-and-steady tortoises π’, snuggly wallabies, and so much more! There were so many βWOWβ moments as they learned about animals from around the world in such a hands-on way.
Trips like these help bring learning to lifeβsparking curiosity, building connections, and creating memories our little learners will never forget π
Thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special! π

ππΎ From Community Helpers to Our Pet Unit! πΎπ
Our Pre-K students have been learning all about community helpers, and this week we began an exciting transition into our Pet Unitβwith a very special visit from our Opelika Police Department!
Students learned how K-9 units help keep our community safe, from tracking and searching to assisting officers in important situations. The children were fascinated to see how these incredible dogs work as partners with their handlers.
We even got to watch a bit of the canines training in action, which showed our students just how smart, focused, and hardworking these dogs are. It was a wonderful way to connect what we learned about helpers in our community to the amazing animals who help them do their jobs every day.
Our students are excited to continue learning about animals and pets in the weeks ahead! πΆ

Weβve had plumbers, farmers, ballerinas, teachers, police officers, firefighters, doctors, scientists, and so much more parade while getting a firsthand look at the Career Tech programs that help turn dreams into reality. π

We're Going on a Bear Hunt!
Our Pre-K students wrapped up their Animals in Winter unit with an unforgettable story-retelling adventure! π»βοΈ
Inspired by Weβre Going on a Bear Hunt, students splashed through a deep, cold river, braved a swirling, whirling snowstorm, and discovered that the bears had finished hibernating. What an exciting way to bring learning to life!
A huge thank you to our OHS Education in Training students for helping create such a magical and engaging experience for our youngest learners. β€οΈπβ¨
