🎉 HELP US BUILD OUR DOLLENS CLASSROOM RAFFLE BASKETS FOR THE BEARCAT BASH! 🎉
We are excited to put together some AMAZING raffle baskets for our Dollens Bearcats! 🐾💙 Each classroom has chosen a fun theme, and we are asking our families and community members to help us fill these baskets with goodies.
There are lots of ways to help! You can donate an item, a gift card, or even a monetary donation toward a basket. Every donation helps make these baskets bigger and better—and helps support our students! 💙
🎁 Here are our classroom basket themes and some donation ideas:
🌧️ KINDERGARTEN- Ms. Julian – Rainy Day
Board games, puzzles, coloring/activity books, craft kits, movie gift cards, popcorn, candy, cozy blankets, fuzzy socks, hot chocolate, coffee/tea, umbrellas, and indoor activities.
💵 1ST GRADE- Mrs. Wagoner – Cash Is King
Cash donations and gift cards such as Target, Walmart, Amazon, grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, coffee shops, movie theaters, or local businesses.
🎲 2ND GRADE- Ms. Murnane– Family Fun Night
Board games, card games, puzzles, movie gift cards, popcorn, candy, pizza or restaurant gift cards, ice cream gift cards, craft kits, bowling, mini-golf, and other family activities.
☕ 3RD GRADE- Ms. Simmerman- Coffee Lovers
Coffee beans, ground coffee, K-Cups, coffee shop gift cards, mugs, tumblers, coffee creamers, flavored syrups, biscotti, cookies, chocolate, pastries, cozy blankets, and coffee-themed items.
🍭 3RD GRADE- Mrs. Burgess– Sweet Tooth
Chocolate, gummy candy, sour candy, hard candy, caramels, lollipops, cookies, brownies, snack cakes, popcorn, candy bars, baking mixes, ice cream gift cards, and candy shop gift cards.
🐾 4TH GRADE- Mrs. Willis – Pet Pampering
Dog or cat treats, toys, balls, collars, leashes, bowls, blankets, grooming supplies, pet shampoo, waste bags, pet store gift cards, grooming gift cards, and personalized pet items.
🌮 4TH GRADE- Ms. Jeskewich– Taco Night
Taco shells, tortillas, taco seasoning, salsa, queso, hot sauce, beans, rice, tortilla chips, taco toppings, serving bowls, taco holders, Mexican soda, restaurant or grocery gift cards, and taco-themed kitchen items.
🌱 5TH GRADE- Mrs. See – Gardening
Flower, vegetable, or herb seeds, seed starter kits, gardening gloves, hand tools, watering cans, plant markers, pots, planters, potting soil, fertilizer, garden décor, gardening aprons, and garden center gift cards.
🏈 5TH GRADE- Mrs. Curtis – Sports Fan/Tailgate
Team apparel, hats, blankets, tumblers, coolers, folding chairs, portable speakers, tailgate games, co****le items, sports gear, grilling tools, BBQ sauces, snacks, team decorations, sporting-goods gift cards, and restaurant gift cards.
🎲 6TH GRADE- Mrs. Wheeler – Game Night
Board games, card games, trivia games, strategy games, dice games, puzzles, game store gift cards, popcorn, chips, candy, soda, hot chocolate, pizza or restaurant gift cards, cozy blankets, and game-night décor.
🍕 6TH GRADE- Ms. Jeskewich – Pizza Night
Pizza gift cards, frozen pizza, pizza dough, pizza sauce, cheese, pizza toppings, pizza seasoning, pizza cutters, pizza pans, pizza stones, breadsticks, soda, desserts, movie gift cards, and family games.

🎉 DOLLENS BEARCATS ARE REACHING FOR THE STARS! ⭐🐾

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our IREAD results! 📚

Last school year our IREAD scores at Dollens jumped to 89.29%! 🎉👏

That is a 9.85 percentage-point increase in just ONE school year!

This incredible growth is a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our students and staff. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to provide strong literacy instruction, targeted interventions, and countless opportunities for our students to grow as readers.

And most importantly, our students stepped up! They worked hard, persevered, and showed us what they can do. ❤️📚

We couldn't be more proud of our Dollens Bearcats! This is what happens when students, teachers, and families work together toward a common goal.

Way to go, Bearcats! Keep reaching for the stars! ⭐🐾

📚🍎 Tomorrow is the First Day of School! 🍎📚

We can't wait to welcome our Bearcats back to Dollens tomorrow! Our staff is excited and ready for a fantastic school year.

A few important reminders for the first morning:

🚫 There is NO Before Care tomorrow (Wednesday). Before Care will begin on Thursday, August 6, with drop-off starting at 6:45 a.m.

🚗 Please do not enter the main parking lot before 7:40 a.m. If you arrive early, please remain parked across the street until 7:40.

⏰ The tardy bell rings at 8:15 a.m. Please plan to arrive with enough time for your student to get into the building and to class before the bell.

Beginning Thursday, the only vehicles that should enter the main parking lot before 7:40 a.m. are those dropping off students who are registered for Before Care.

Thank you for helping us keep arrival safe and organized for all of our students. We are excited to welcome our Bearcats back tomorrow and can't wait for an amazing school year!

We have some great news to share!

Transportation is now available for students from Shawswick and Dollens Elementary Schools, along with Lincoln Elementary as previously shared, to the Limestone Unit and Thornton Teen Center for our After School program.

Your child must have an active 2026-27 Club Membership and complete program registration for their school to access this transportation. Spots are limited and filling quickly, so we encourage families to complete both registration steps as soon as possible.

Transportation options for Needmore Elementary are still being explored, and we will continue to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available.
