Merry Christmas from CSBA’s Practi-Cal

04/01/2020

We hope you are staying healthy and safe. Practi-Cal has heard from many LEA’s who are both clients and non-clients looking for solutions to provide related services and manage IEP meetings for students with disabilities.

I want to take a minute to share that we are in development to quickly release two new services to make the transition to distanced learning easy and compliant.

Practi-Cal has already made changes to make recording telehealth services easier for any practice and to start a webinar using your current video solution.

Our next solution is to release an integrated telehealth module in SpEdCare, where practitioners can schedule and provide related services via Practi-Cal’s video and/or voice only chat. The great advantage to this service is that practitioners can document their services during the session and save the record in SpEdCare. Another benefit is that our telehealth module will be both HIPAA and FERPA compliant, with secure video and voice encryption.

Soon after we will release a virtual IEP meeting module to facilitate web-based IEP meetings. Our system will allow users to quickly schedule and hold IEP meetings via SpEdCare. A big benefit to our system is that you will be able to get electronic IEP consent and authorizations immediately. Since the IEP meetings are held through our secure “Parent Portal”, it will meet all electronic signature requirements. Once the meeting is over and consent is given, a PDF signature page will be created for you to add to your IEP files. This module will also allow you securely send IEP and health related documents to parent and other IEP participants.

We believe these solutions will benefit your LEA, not only in the short-term, but as a lasting solution to hold IEP meetings and gain electronic consent.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have about these features, their functionality, or compliance. You can contact us at [email protected].

Practi-Cal has added options in your service entry screens to start telehealth sessions. You can also keep notes during your session and save the record, once the session ends. Check your announcements and "Teach Me" library for detailed instructions.

COVID-19 Update for 3/25/20

We hope you are staying healthy and safe. We wanted to check in and give you an update on changes we have made to SpEdCare for current service delivery.

Practi-Cal recently added "telehealth" treatment options to SpEdCare, so that you may accurately record the method of delivery for all current treatment services. We added these options to all practitioner types that might potentially provide telehealth services.

Currently, Speech therapy provided via telehealth is reimbursable to schools and Practi-Cal is working with DHCS to see if other treatment services eventually be reimbursed, as a part of the recent CMS waiver.

We added these options for your convenience. Practi-Cal is currently working other options to meet service delivery needs, during this time and if you have any suggestions, please email us at [email protected].

Practi-Cal has automated the parent and medical professional’s signature process and the time consuming process of tracking sent orders and managing paper authorizations. This feature can be used by any practitioner type for any service that requires authorization.

Here are some benefits of using SpEdCare’s E-Authorization feature over paper solutions:
1. Will save hours creating, sending, tracking and uploading medical authorization forms.
2. Easily create and send to either parent or directly to ORP professional
3. Quickly track authorization status and send follow-ups in just seconds.
4. Designed with the potential to be 100% paper-free
5. Allows, authorization forms to still be downloaded and sent manually Allows for paper authorizations that have been faxed or hand-delivered to be manually entered and uploaded
6. SpEdCare will hold claims for authorizations that have not yet been authorized by the appropriate ORP Professional.
7. Once authorized, claims will be released only for the dates of services that are authorized.
8. Records that have been entered against unauthorized orders will appear on our daily hold report (Lost Reimbursement Report)

Update: DHCS Workgroup Meeting, June 5th, 2019. A discussion was held at a previous meeting about the requirement to have supervising nurses sign off on all individual logs. DHCS, after consulting with their internal management, determined that all logs, for practitioners who require supervision, “must” be signed by a supervising nurse. SpEdCare’s nursing supervision module simplifies this process, and removes the need to track and manage paper logs.
