It’s official: registration is open for the 2026 Inside/Outside Retreat for Saxophonists, happening August 11–16 at the Victor Wooten Center for Music & Nature in Tennessee.

Each summer, a small group of adult saxophonists* gathers with us for a week of playing, listening, learning, hanging, and reconnecting with why we picked up the horn in the first place.
One past camper described it as “the kind of creative recharge that brings you closer to your instrument and to music itself.” That feels pretty accurate. It’s part inspiration, part skill-building, and part those quiet moments where something clicks and you think, “Yeah… this is why I came.”
You’ll spend your days working with Bob Reynolds, Bob Franceschini, and Bob Hemenger (The Bobs), along with a devoted staff of musicians who care deeply about teaching. Over the years, guest artists have included Chris Potter, Joshua Redman, Branford Marsalis, Jeff Coffin, Joel Frahm, Kirk Whalum, and others.
And of course, Juan Rollan. (IYKYK ;)
The week includes daily classes, masterclasses, small-group sessions, jam sessions, concerts, and plenty of informal playing. Add to that a world-class kitchen staff and great food (definitely not hotdogs and beans), and you’ve got a pretty special environment.
We cap the retreat at 36 participants so things stay personal, focused, and supportive.
