Just because your surgical timeline says you can start running doesn’t mean your body is ready for it.
Before returning to running after ACL surgery, you need adequate quad and calf strength, as well as the ability to properly absorb and control forces through the surgical leg.
Here are a few of my favorite exercises to help athletes build the strength and resilience they need before getting back to running. 🏃♀️

Introducing the area's only program designed for sports rehabilitation and performance training

Despite the weather, I had a great time working the Military Classic game ⚾️🇺🇸
Thank you & your entire staff for putting on a wonderful event & allowing us to honor our veterans. Looking forward to helping out again next year (hopefully with some sunshine ☀️).
Sound familiar? We pack our kids’ schedules with multiple sports, teams, practices, games, and coaches year-round… Then act surprised when injuries start piling up.
Too often, the warning signs are right in front of us: soreness, burn out, nagging, injuries, decreased performance. But instead of addressing the overload, we push through it.
More isn’t always better. Kids need time to recover, build strength, sleep, and simply be kids. Long-term development and health will always matter more than another tournament or extra game.
Train to Play vs. Play to Play
Late phase ACL rehab must include:
🔸 strength
🔸 power
🔸 acceleration/deceleration
🔸 reactive drills
- all the things athletes actually need to safely return to sport. Too many athletes finish formal PT around 4-6 months and are left with little to no guidance afterward. Then we wonder why they don’t feel@confident returning to play…or why reinjuries happen 🤔
Returning to sports is more than being “pain free” or hitting the 9 month mark. Athletes need to be prepared for the physical demands of competition.
Don’t fall through the cracks. Don’t return to your sport wondering if you’re truly ready. Train for the demands of the game. ⚽️🏀🏈⛷️
Youth strength training is not only safe when done correctly, it can improve overall athleticism and support long-term health and performance. The key is focusing on proper form, movement quality, and making training fun 🤩 rather than simply lifting heavier weights.

Don’t rush back from an ankle sprain! 🩼
Banded ankle exercises, calf raises, & ABC’s are just the beginning. To get back to sports, you need:
1. Dynamic jumping movements
2. Sprinting
3. Multi-directional movements
4. Single-leg strength & stability
Athletes, don’t try to go it alone. DM me for expert guidance and get back on track safely 💬
ACL rehab mid-phase: challenging exercises are key, progressions are crucial, and timelines are flexible. Progress is individual, so your rehab should be tailored to you.
