Congratulations to Salvador Chacon and Desalee Fredrick for recently completing their Skills for Success programs! Wallace State offers tuition-free classes over the summer that include online modules and a hands-on portion to give students the opportunity to earn certain workforce certifications!

Salvador completed the Landscaping program and Desalee completed the Barista program. These certifications are great to receive just by themselves, but they can also be used to go toward additional certifications and even degrees through Wallace State. A round of applause goes out to Salvador and Desalee for their hard work! We are so proud of you both!

This month, our 8th graders stepped into the interview seat for mock interviews which serves as an experience that’s about so much more than answering questions.

Mock interviews help students build confidence in speaking with others, practice professional communication, and learn how to present themselves in a positive way. This is an important first step in getting comfortable with the interview process.

These skills will serve them well far beyond middle school including interviewing for jobs, scholarships, leadership organizations, dual enrollment opportunities, college admissions, or other opportunities that come their way in high school and beyond.

The ability to communicate clearly, think on your feet, and make a strong first impression is a life skill, and we’re proud to help our students start building it now.

Reminder: OHS Awards Day ceremonies will take place tomorrow and Friday in the auditorium! Parents of students receiving an award and/or standing to be recognized have already been notified via parent square. All seniors will be recognized at their ceremony. We look forward to honoring academic achievement, leadership, service, scholarships, involvement, and postsecondary accomplishments! We are proud of our students and excited to celebrate them!
