Children ages 2–5 are developing rapidly. They have strong personalities, enormous energy, enthusiasm, and strong wills. At the same time, they are learning an enormous amount in a short period.

Therefore, the teacher's job isn't simply to "teach lessons."

The learning environment needs to support:

- Emotional health
- Physical development
- Social interaction
- Creativity
- Language
- Cognitive development
- A sense of happiness and affection

Early childhood education is about nurturing the whole child, not just preparing them academically.
