Yesterday, our little learners explored the important roles community workers play in keeping our neighborhoods safe, healthy, and running smoothly. From helping others to providing essential services, every role makes a difference!

Through discovery and conversation, children begin to understand the world around them, appreciate the people who help us every day, and recognize how we all contribute to our community. ๐ŸŒŸ

Because learning about our community is also learning about kindness, responsibility, and helping others.

Children need more than letters, numbers, and school readiness. They need opportunities to learn how to:

Outdoor play is more than time spent outside. It is an opportunity for children to move, explore, create, and discover through meaningful experiences.

From climbing, running, and balancing to experimenting with natural materials and building with open-ended resources, children develop physical abilities while learning to think creatively and take initiative.

With room to explore and time to follow their ideas, children can turn everyday outdoor experiences into opportunities for discovery, problem-solving, and growth.

Because sometimes the most meaningful learning happens when children are free to move, explore, and do things for themselves.

Children learn by doing, not just by watching.

When little hands explore, touch, build, sort, create, and experiment, learning becomes an experience they can see, feel, and understand.

Hands-on activities give children opportunities to explore materials, make comparisons, discover differences, and develop their thinking through direct interaction with the world around them.

Because learning isn't limited to what children hear from adults or see in pictures. The experience itself is part of the learning.

At Acton Midwest, we believe in creating opportunities for children to learn through exploration, movement, and meaningful experiences because the whole child learns through the whole experience.

Creative thinking can grow through carefully chosen questions. As children share what they are making and explain their ideas, giving them space to think and respond allows them to gather their thoughts and develop their own answers.

Questions are most meaningful when they are naturally woven into the experienceโ€”not asked so frequently that the experience becomes a long series of questions.

Thoughtful questions, balanced with opportunities to think and respond, can encourage children to develop and express their own ideas.
