Some recent photos from our trip to Egypt. The temples and museums are fantastic but beware of liars and thieves and demand for tips everywhere.

Some photos of recent trips, mahi mahi caught while on Mexican cruise. Antarctica cruise photos include penguins, wild guanacos (alpaca like critters), and the part of Elephant Island where Shackelton's crew lived for 4 months while waiting for rescue, note the large penguin colony on the rock to the right. A little chilly there.

Photos are Sharon almost getting run over by a mule in Santorini Greece; Greek/Roman ruins in Ephesus Turkey; the church built in Istanbul in the 500s AD (Hagia Sophia); and the West Wall in Jerusalem; in 79 AD the Mt. Ruffie the ruffed grouse is still with us after a year. Got him to eat bread which is much easier to find than berries. He will often grab the plastic bread bag, run with it and then thrash it. Cheap entertainment for us living in the woods.

Went tarpon fishing last week. My brother-in-law landed this one.

One of our students was getting ready to build a log house this spring and had permits, etc. good to go but now has to move to the Southeast for family medical issues. Site is near Mt Rainier. He told me: "If you have any former students looking for a project that is ready to hit the ground running please feel free to give them my contact information, I would much rather sell at a loss to someone that will see the cabin built and used than to just sell the lot as vacant land."
So if you are interested, please let me know and I will forward the contact information. Jack. We still have our 40 pg booklet and Powerpoint CD available for $60.

We've had about 7" of snow the past week, so was concerned about Ruffie the Grouse. So I hiked up the hill a few times with some thawed blackberries and Ruffie seemed pleased with them, although I think he wanted them heated. He often follows partway home, perhaps he is lonely.

Just returned from Greece/Italy cruise, was supposed to spend Thanksgiving in Turkey but covid caused Turkey and Israel ports of call to be dropped. Photos are myself at Pisa and Coliseum and Sharon at Pompeii (note Mt. Vesuvius in background). Great Christmas present idea: A copy of our log building class Powerpoint and 40 page booklet ($60), enough info to build a log house from foundation to finish and I will come help you get started if you pay my expenses and make a donation to charity.
