Find the ā€œwant-toā€ instead of the ā€œhave-to.ā€

šŸ’–When you "have to" go to get your kids from practice, ā€œhave toā€ cook dinner, ā€œhave toā€ show up, etc… you can become resistant and resentful by feeling the burden of obligation instead of ✨choice.✨

šŸ’–Yet, usually your "have to" thought has an underlying want to: you truly care about your child and their safety & wellbeing.
You are choosing to show up for some kind of reason.

šŸ’–Finding the "want to" is not about faking it.
Rather, it's about resurfacing your values so that they shine bright in your everyday language and actions.

šŸ’–How you talk, act and show up as a woman when you are choosing your actions from want rather than thinking of a list of obligations is significant.

šŸ’–You will have deeper connections, fewer arguments and power struggles, and more peace and harmony in your life!🄰🌟

What thoughts could you shift to ā€œwant toā€? Drop them in the comments. ⬇

Toxic Positivity is everywhere:
😁Just Be Happy.
😁Good vibes only.
😬Be grateful that…

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. I tried…

In fact toxic positivity may be invalidating your healthy, normal emotions and may have negative effects on your mental health.

If you only value positivity and happiness, you are missing out on a significant portion of the human experience. 🄓🤢😱😔😭

If you feel love you will likely experience loss, grief and pain too. šŸ’”

And while the ā€œnegativeā€ emotions- like grief- aren’t fun, how would you know what joy or excitement is if you don’t have a reference point?

I get it… you don’t want to sit with the discomfort of those feelings. (If you haven’t allowed them it can scare the s**t out of you- like it’s a black hole there’s no return. Not true!)

Yet, resisting or numbing yourself to negative emotions means you can’t fully experience the positive ones either. 😐

But here’s the deal…Life is pretty much 50/50 of ā€œgoodā€ and ā€œbadā€ emotions. There will be times where you experience more joy and fun and times when it is dark, heavy and difficult. ā˜Æļø

Trying to avoid negative emotions is fruitless. Think all the positive thoughts and affirmations you want, but life is still going to throw you curveballs…

Now you can absolutely determine how you react to those circumstances. And I’m all for learning how to be emotionally resilient, agile & to not stay in the pain & discomfort any longer than you need. (This is the work I do with you as a mindset coach.)

Truly understanding my emotions and how my thoughts & feelings work together was one of the best things I ever did for myself, my kids, and everyone I interact with. ā¤ļøā˜Æļø

Positivity can be helpful and beautiful… it’s just not realistic to live there and never experience ā€œnegativeā€ emotions.

How do you know if you have toxic positivity in your life? As always, it starts with awareness.
*You can start with recognizing when and how you use it.
*How did you feel when you received this kind of invalidation of your feelings from others?

🚨5 warning signs that you’re overthinking:

ā›”ļøI can’t stop worrying.

ā›”ļøI often worry about things I have no control over.

ā›”ļøI constantly remind myself of mistakes.

ā›”ļøWhen someone says something or acts in a way I don't like, I dwell on it.

ā›”ļøI spend so much time either dwelling on past events or worrying about the future that I often miss what’s going on in the present.

With even a little effort, you can adjust your thinking and take steps to replace overthinking with more productive self-reflection and problem-solving...so you reclaim your brainpower, energy, and time.

Imagine- a calm, managed mind... you can be present in the moment with your family, confidently & easily make decisions, actually relax and fall asleep more easily.

Your next step is working with me 1-1 (via zoom) each week to break the overthinking patterns.

Have you ever been disappointed on Mother’s Day? ļæ¼
Here’s HOW TO ENJOY MOTHERS DAY:

STEP 1ļøāƒ£
Give yourself permission to believe you are enough. Decide to believe it. Commit to believing it.

You are the perfect mom for your kids, even when you aren't perfect. Stop comparing yourself to other moms. They are the way they are because that’s what their kids need. You are the way you are because that’s what your kids need. Your kids were given to you for a reason.

Being you is enough.

STEP 2ļøāƒ£
Tell your family EXACTLY what you want. Don't expect them to know or read your mind.
You can also drop all the expectations and just create what you want on your own. It's ok to plan your day and buy your own gifts. You're much better at it than they are anyway.

STEP 3ļøāƒ£
If your family doesn't show up the way you want them to...don't make it mean anything. It doesn't mean they don't love you or that you're not important. It just means they're human with their own thoughts & ideas. It's only a problem if you make it a problem.

STEP 4ļøāƒ£
Choose love for yourself because it feels good. Even if the kids don’t say as often as you want, or at all.
I don’t mother my kids so they will love me. I mother them because it’s the kind of mom I want to be, the kind of woman I want to be.

If you want to celebrate being their mom on Mother’s Day, you can do it all on your own, no matter what they do or don’t do, say or don’t say. Think thoughts about them that make you feel love. Think thoughts about them that make you feel connected. Because love and connection feel amazing!

Are you suffering from the "disease to please?"

If so, it might be hard to understand why this is something you do.

This graphic shows some common reasons why you may struggle with people pleasing, and do things you dont really want to do.

Did you also know that people pleasing is a common trait of perfectionists? After all, you can only be perfect if other people think so too.

If any of these resonate with you-- don't worry. It's very common for women to be raised and conditioned with these ideas and expectations.

And -that doesn't mean it's good or healthy behavior.
And- it's possible to pivot your thinking and your actions so you don't feel the weight of obligation, fear, disappointment any more.

In 1-1 coaching, I help people pleasers, overthinkers and perfectionist create new thinking and action patterns that fits their lives and circumstances-- without relying on other people to change.

Book a free consult call with me so we can talk about how coaching with me will help you detox from people pleasing.
