I've loved seeing some of your great nature challenges recently! Check out these fairy gardens that fit both our "Tiny" and "Outdoor Art" challenges!
I'm so impressed by the creativity by all of our students!!

This week we're taking our art supplies outdoors!
We'll get creative with things in nature as well as our more traditional supplies. Can't wait to see what you'll create!

Due to our art show being cancelled, I thought it would be fun to highlight some of the art I had been saving anyway. We have SO many talented students at our schools that it always makes it hard to choose! Here's a little highlight from a few of our St. Pat's students grades K-6!

Our theme this week is "Tiny." This week's art challenge was inspired by the artist, McKay Lanker Bayer, and her project called the "Tiny Art Show." She creates art shows with all things miniature -- the art, the programs, even miniature food and snacks! Our challenge this week is to think small with the art that we're creating.

Week 5 Theme: Printmaking!

This week there are three separate videos to watch. The marker printmaking video also explains a little bit more about printmaking in general. Each video will highlight a different type of printmaking that you should be able to do at home. There is also a special guest appearance in one of the videos! :)

Can't wait to see what you all will create! 🎨

05/04/2020

This type of printmaking involves using objects you have at home to create prints with! Get creative! Maybe you have cardboard, stamps, recycled containers, etc. Have fun printing!

This video introduces printmaking and describes how you can use a plastic bag or tinfoil to create monoprints with markers.

05/04/2020

This video describes how to create relief monoprints with stryofoam, washable markers, and water. It's super fun!

Week Four Theme: Texture

Texture is one of the "Elements of Art" and is very important for artists to think about when making art! I'll explain more in the video below.

There are three challenges this week:
- Go on a texture walk and collect crayon rubbings
- Create a tinfoil texture piece
- Create a drawing that shows visual texture

These videos are helpful for learning how to draw texture, but may be a little advanced for our students. Feel free to modify as needed.

Remember that these are simply ideas!! I'm sure you all can come up with other creative ways to use texture as well!

Week Three Theme: Found Object

This week you will find the description and the challenges in this video.

There are endless ways to use found objects to create art, so I hope these can be some fun challenges for your students! Just a reminder that they are always optional though!
