Puzzles offer so many developmental benefits such as independence, spatial awareness, confidence through self-correcting mechanisms, improving fine motor skills, increasing concentration, and helps develop problem solving skills.
Montessori classrooms have puzzles in them starting at the infant age. It’s a great social, emotional, and cognitive building piece of work and is essential for learning, in all areas of the classroom!

Water work in our toddler classroom is a huge hit! From the first step to the last, the child stays engaged and works on their hand eye coordination, pincer grip, and practical life skills.

As we enter storm season, we continue to educate our children on how to be safe in case of certain situations. Yesterday we practiced in our storm shelter and how we would protect our heads in case of debris. The children asked great questions about different scenarios. We love watching their minds work an be able to use our practices in practical life situations!

One of the wonderful works in the Montessori classroom is learning how to sew. It is a skill that not everyone has, because they were never taught. It is a great life skill that helps with fine motor, hand eye coordination, focus, as well as patience. This is this little girls first attempt at sewing a button, and she was so proud of her work!

Water work has been very popular with the toddlers this week. There are so many benefits of scrubbing an elephant such as pouring (water from pitcher to bowl), handwriting (going in a circular motion), and completing a process of steps from start to finish. Scooping fish from a bowl of water helps the child with pouring, scooping, hand eye coordination and completing a process of steps as well.

The appeal of a small, family-oriented school environment lies in the bonds and relationships formed across various age groups. When friendships are established, they endure beyond the school years. When friends return to visit, those who remain are overjoyed and demonstrate how deeply they were missed.

If you would like to donate an item off of this list for this upcoming school year, we would be so grateful for it. Thank you in advance for your kindness!
