It was a great day at the Pediatric Cancer Research Group Symposium at University of Nebraska Medical Center - UNMC on August 19th! ๐ŸŽ—๏ธ

We were especially excited to hear from Julie M. Petersen, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor in the UNMC Department of Epidemiology and Affiliate Faculty with the Water, Climate & Health Program.

Dr. Petersen shared how innovative environmental epidemiology methods are helping researchers better understand patterns in pediatric cancers, structural congenital anomalies and other child health outcomes and how environmental exposures may play a role.

Her presentation also highlighted the power of collaboration, from local to national partnerships, and how cutting-edge research can help translate knowledge into education, prevention and improved pediatric population health.

Thank you, Dr. Petersen, for sharing your work and helping advance our understanding of the connections between environment and child health! ๐Ÿ‘

Earlier this month, Gov. Jim Pillen signed a proclamation at the Nebraska State Capitol recognizing the UNMC College of Public Health's 20 years of impact on public health education, research and service. It was a special moment to reflect on two decades of improving health in Nebraska and beyond.
