Very sad news!
bell hooks, Feminist Author and Social Activist, Dies at 69 A friend of the late writer, whose birth name was Gloria Jean Watkins, said “the world is a lesser place today without her.”
The Delta Kappa Chapter of Triota is the UNO Women’s & Gender Studies Honor Society. Triota members are UNO students who have a strong interest in WGS issues.

Topic: What Happens When You Don’t Own Yourself? Aphra Behn’s Libertine Feminism
Playwright, poet, and novelist Aphra Behn was both a Royal spy and also the first professional female writer in England. Analyzing her literary works alongside the philosophies of John Locke and Epicurus, this presentation shows how Behn’s libertine feminism posed seriously challenges to emerging conceptions of democratic civil society by using depictions of r**e, slavery, and atomic promiscuity to challenge notions of personal sovereignty and consent.
