Seventy Five North is never finished finding ways to improve life in the Highlander Neighborhood and remains dedicated to uplifting this community.

Purpose Built Communities paid a visit to Omaha and met with the 75N team to discuss what our neighborhood has, what it needs, and where it's going.

Thank you to Purpose Built Communities for meeting with our team to shape the future of early childhood education and move the Highlander Neighborhood into the next bright phase.

Our next award announcement should be no surprise to anyone!

Our State Senator Courage Award this year will be given to Senator Terrell McKinney. The award is given to a state senator for representing Democratic values as a notable leader among Senators whose focus is always on helping the people of our state. Senator McKinney has contributed through action and legislation not only for his district, but for all of Nebraska.

Congratulations, Senator McKinney! We look forward to honoring your work through this award on Saturday at our Ben Nelson BBQ.

Many people—including our Director of Education, Angel N. Starks—showed up today in support of Identity Prep Academy at the Nebraska State Board of Education special meeting and used their voices.

Your voice matters. Prepare yourself to use it. 🗣️

If you would like to support Identity Preparatory Academy please join tomorrow’s state board of education meeting either in person or via Zoom for Tuesday’s special vote.

Public comment is available both in person and on Zoom for up to 90 minutes during the public comment section and written comments can also be submitted 24 hours prior for board consideration.

TL;DR: Being busy and being positioned are NOT the same thing. 👀💰

Serena Williams is SO chill… just casually telling us she’s an angel investor in 16 unicorn companies. 😭💰

What’s a unicorn? A privately held company valued at more than $1 BILLION.

And then she confirmed a lesson we heard from another panel:
Don’t trip over quarters to pick up pennies. 🗣️

Now, please understand… Serena’s “pennies” were Wimbledon, the French Open, etc. 😂 So SIS DESERVES SOME GRACE.

But us?! 👀😂

Our “pennies” might be the missed phone call. The unread email. Putting everybody else before ourselves. Heck, that family favor we absolutely could’ve said no to. Not believing in ourselves. Overthinking the woulda, coulda, shouldas. Picking up a shift in the midst of it all. The list goes on.

Serena shared that she missed an opportunity to invest in Uber because she was too busy to respond.

WHEW. 😮‍💨

How many opportunities are WE missing because we’re so busy doing everything that we haven’t built the team, systems or capacity to recognize and respond to what could be next?

Wooooosaaaahhhh. Because THAT one got us. 😂

Not only is Serena one of the greatest athletes of all time, but the intentionality behind how she spends, invests and goes after the bag?!

We ran into some of the cast of Tonight’s Conversation at the InvestFest Vendor Marketplace and couldn’t help but appreciate the BUSINESS behind it.

No fancy credentials required. They built an audience around conversation, perspective and personality — then figured out how to monetize it.

Top-tier marketing. Top-tier sales. Top-tier “I said what I said.” 😂

It’s easy to get blinded by the stars at events like this. ✨ But sometimes the real lesson is in the observation — not just who is in the room, but what they built to get there.

Our absolute FAVORITE thing so far at Invest Fest?! Finding our people! 🥹🙌🏾

We stopped by the BSLC booth at the Vendor Marketplace and baby… OMAHA IS IN THE BUILDING! ✨

Black Student Leadership Council (BSLC) was organized by John Jackson in 2013 to create a safe space for students to talk about issues relevant to the Black experience, build community, and create experiences that bring young people of the African Diaspora closer together.

And look at what grew from that seed. 🌱

BSLC expanded to Omaha and now boasts more than 300 members across 4 school districts and 10 schools.

But WAIT — because they’re not stopping there.

THEY’RE GOING NATIONWIDE! 🇺🇸🙌🏾

To travel all the way to Atlanta for Invest Fest and run into an organization born from community, growing right in our own backyard, and now preparing to expand across the country?!

THAT is what this is about.

Connection. Exposure. Community. Opportunity. And watching people we know BUILD BIG. 💪🏾
