As we celebrate the conclusion of African Cultural Connection’s school residencies, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to Girls Inc. of Omaha, Nelson Mandela, Omaha Public Schools, Collective for Youth, Beveridge Magnet, Morton Magnet, Belle Ryan Elementary, Dundee Elementary, King Science Magnet, Culler Middle School (Lincoln), Jesuit Academy and Sacred Heart School for their partnership and support.
Throughout the residency, students engaged with African arts, dance, drumming, history, and cultural perspectives with remarkable curiosity and respect. Their enthusiasm reminds us why arts and cultural education remain such an important investment in young people.
Thank you to all the fantastic ACC partners, supporters, and funders whose commitment helps create and continue opportunities for cultural learning, connection, and global understanding. We are honored to have shared this journey together.

We sincerely thank Black Elk Elementary for welcoming African Culture Connection for an engaging morning of African dance , drumming, and storytelling performance.
The encouragement and insightful feedback we received are extremely invaluable to us.
One student reflected, “I loved that I was finally able to see something from my culture.” What a powerful reminder that cultural experiences can affirm identity, build pride, and create a lasting sense of belonging for youth!

We are honored and grateful to announce that we are a recipient of the Find Your Light Foundation's 2026 grant! Their support allows us to continue our mission and services to the youth in the community, ensuring equitable access to quality arts education.

African Culture Connection’s (ACC) residencies bring the rhythms and stories of African heritage into local classrooms, immersing students in dance, drumming, and visual arts that embody centuries of tradition. Knowledgeable teaching artists use hands‑on, engaging methods to weave cultural lessons into memorable experiences, helping young people draw connections between Africa’s legacy and their own communities. The programming integrates academic learning with live performances where participants encounter a spectrum of West African dance forms, colorful regalia and dynamic music, illustrating both “royal” and “popular” traditions. Framing these art forms within themes of resilience and celebration encourages students to see themselves within a broader human story, cultivating respect for cultural heritage and a sense of shared identity. Transformative expressions like this fosters expression and individuality, allowing each young person’s talent to shine and illuminating their path toward a brighter, more creative future.
