On this , we take it back to last week's Metropolitan Community College (Nebraska) Commencement Ceremony. The Teams were excited to see so many Scholars walk across the stage, earning their Associates, in front of their families, communities, and friends. Congratulations to the SSS-Classic participants on their induction into the MCC Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society! This is a huge honor as they join previous participants who have also been inducted to the Society. Congrats to all the inductees.

Help us congratulate Mr. Brian Kress on his Five (5) Years of Service at Metropolitan Community College (MCC)…specifically FIVE years of service with the Support Services -Classic program. As an alum of the SSS-C program at MCC, Brian fully understands how and now as an advisor, he is here to fully support his advising cohort, along with the program participants, to navigate their academic journey at MCC and find their next adventure as our scholars look to transfer to their next college campus. If you see Mr. Brian or if he happens to be your advisor, be sure to give him a shout-out and congratulate him.

The road to was a success. We had a series of events leading up to the big day from finals preps to selfies, to a end of Quarter Social...and a weather postponed field trip. Regardless, our scholars enjoyed all the events including the Team! Thanks to everyone that participated. Celebrating 40 years of National TRIO Day on Feb. 28!

We're taking today's to this past Monday. Our participants attended MCC Community Education - Nebraska's 41st Annual MLK Celebration. Participants had the opportunity to engage with student peers, staff, faculty, and community guests while enjoying music and a powerful keynote address!

A new Pell Institute research brief shows that the percentage of first-generation students in college has fallen from 66% in 1996 to 53% in 2020.
