Want to be more involved at Ponca Elementary, meet other parents, and help make school extra special for our kids? Join the Ponca PTO!

There are lots of ways to get involved, whether you have a little time or a lot! 🙌

🚌 Help with field trips
🎉 Be a room parent or help with classroom parties
🏫 Volunteer at school events and activities
💡 Share your ideas and help us plan fun opportunities for our students
🤝 Connect with other Ponca families and our school community

Joining PTO doesn't mean you have to attend every meeting or volunteer for everything! You can participate in whatever works for your schedule.

Join us for an evening of swimming, fun, and community at Keystone Pool on August 25th from 4:00–8:00 PM!

We have an extra-special introduction as we welcome the newest teacher to the Ponca Elementary family, our new 5th Grade teacher, Ms. Paxtyn Mangus! 💙

This year marks Ms. Mangus’ very first year of teaching, and we’re so excited that she chose Ponca as the place to begin her teaching journey! 🎉

Here are a few fun facts to help you get to know Ms. Mangus:

🏔️ She was born in Colorado and moved to Nebraska in 2023

🛍️ She loves shopping at HomeGoods

🧩 In her free time, she enjoys working on puzzles

📚 Her favorite subject is reading

🌮 Her favorite food is tacos

⚡ And when she needs a little extra energy, she loves a Red Bull!

🍎 Meet Our 4th Grade Teacher: Ms. Sherri Rodriguez! 📚🌱

Next up in our Ponca Elementary staff introductions is our 4th Grade teacher, Ms. Sherri Rodriguez! 💙

Here are a few fun facts to help you get to know Ms. Rodriguez:

🥤 Dr Pepper is her love language!
🎯 She enjoys a good Target haul (don’t we all?!)
🧽 Have some Magic Erasers to spare? They’re a classroom supply she would love to have!
🌱 When she’s not in the classroom, you can find her spending time gardening
📚 She also loves relaxing with a good book

Whether she’s tending to her garden, getting lost in a great book, or making a Target run with a Dr Pepper in hand, Ms. Rodriguez knows how to enjoy the little things!

Next up in our Ponca Elementary staff introductions is our 3rd Grade teacher, Ms. Katrina Lyons!

Ms. Lyons has been with Omaha Public Schools since 2018, and we’re excited to have her as part of the Ponca family! 💙

Here are a few fun facts about Ms. Lyons:

☕ She enjoys a good latte from Scooter’s
🧮 Her classroom wish? Math games for her students to enjoy while building their skills!
🧵 She loves all things crafty and spends her free time sewing, making cake pops, and creating handmade gifts

🥜🍫 And you can’t go wrong with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups!

Next up in our Ponca Elementary staff introductions is our wonderful 2nd Grade teacher, Ms. Allison Wood!

Ms. Wood has been with Omaha Public Schools since August 2023, and we’re excited to have her as part of the Ponca family! 💙

👩‍🍳 She enjoys learning and trying new recipes

Next up in our Ponca Elementary staff introductions is Kindergarten teacher Ms. Amy Grav!

Ms. Grav has been with Omaha Public Schools since 2002 and brings years of experience and dedication to her classroom and students.

A few fun facts about Ms. Grav:

📚 She loves reading
☕ She enjoys both coffee and tea
🥨 Her favorite snack is Chex Mix
🎯 She loves shopping at Target and Amazon
📝 And if you’re wondering what her classroom can always use more of—scratch paper is at the top of her wish list!

🍎 Meet Our Principal: Mr. Carl Bilotta! ☕⛳

The Ponca Elementary PTO is excited to introduce our school principal, Mr. Carl Bilotta!

Mr. Bilotta has been part of Omaha Public Schools for five years, and we’re excited to have him leading our Ponca community.

When he’s not busy supporting our students, staff, and families, you might find Mr. Bilotta enjoying a good cup of coffee ☕, hitting the golf course ⛳, officiating a sporting event 🏀🏈, and most importantly spending time with his family.

We’re grateful for Mr. Bilotta’s leadership and dedication to Ponca Elementary and look forward to a fantastic school year together!

👋 Be sure to say hello when you see Mr. Bilotta around school and maybe ask him about his favorite coffee order or his golf game!

Just a quick heads-up that our final PTO meeting of the year has been moved! We will now be meeting on Tuesday, May 12th, instead of Monday.

When: Tuesday, May 12th @ 6:30pm

Where: Ponca Library (A virtual link will be emailed out Tuesday for those joining from home)

This has been such a wonderful year, and we are so thankful for this amazing Ponca community. We hope to see you there to help us wrap things up! 🦝💙
