We are expanding opportunities for future physicians with new anesthesiology and perioperative medicine residency programs in Omaha and Phoenix.
As the national demand for anesthesiologists continues to grow, these new programs will prepare residents through rigorous clinical training, mentorship and compassionate patient care.
Members of the inaugural residency cohorts are already helping shape the culture and future of the programs, continuing Creighton’s commitment to forming skilled, service-minded healthcare leaders.
“Creighton has become my home over the past few years, so I am honored to be staying and working to make this program as strong as it possibly can be,” says Ryan Kauper, MD’26, who matched into the Omaha program.

This summer, our medical students are diving into discovery. 🔬💙
Across Omaha and Phoenix, rising M2 students are participating in 179 funded summer research projects—up from 137 last summer—gaining hands-on experience alongside faculty mentors who welcome them into labs, clinics and research teams.
In Omaha, students are involved in chart reviews, joining bench science labs studying topics like hearing and cancer, and anything in between. In Phoenix, students work with clinicians on projects spanning specialties across the Valley.
These 6–9 week experiences are more than summer projects, they’re opportunities to ask questions, explore interests and build relationships with faculty who help shape the next generation of physicians.
Here’s to a summer of curiosity, mentorship and discovery. 🩺✨

Congratulations to Brianna Werner and Clay Oliver, recent !
After graduation, both will continue their medical training with Creighton in Phoenix. Bri will join the Anesthesiology residency program while Clay will continue in Preliminary Internal Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology. They say they are excited to continue the outstanding training experience and supportive community they found throughout medical school at Creighton’s Phoenix campus.
Through their experiences at Creighton, Bri and Clay say they learned the importance of exceptional bedside manner and caring for the whole person—values they will carry into residency and beyond.
Outside of medicine, they are also looking forward to watching their daughter Parker grow up during this next chapter together. 🎓💙
