rental beige was a poem I wrote and shared with my newsletter on accident. My email service is wanting to reprimand me for how many folks unsubscribed from my newsletter because I’m not a straight Christian homeschooler.

You mean an artist can’t have any color in their life? Ya right.

Hi! My name is Dallas, and I’m a Teaching Artist. Welcome to those of you who’ve recently followed!

I make video art courses for those who want to learn to draw and paint at home (very popular with homeschools!) or in a co-op/learning group.
My beginner course, “Brush, Chalk & Charcoal: Foundations in Drawing” improves students’ drawing skills by working through 33 videos on beginner-level drawing. It leads learners through key drawing exercises with watercolor, chalk & charcoal. A supply list, syllabus, teacher training, and drawing prompt ideas are all included.

My intermediate art course is called Brush, Chalk & Charcoal: Framing Your World. This course is best taken after my beginner course, above. This course has 33 high-quality real-time video lessons that will heighten your visual perception, help you develop your watercolor techniques, and teach you how to draw with a range of different art media. A supply list, syllabus, teacher training, and drawing prompt ideas are all included.

Lastly, my beginner color course is called Color Connections: Color Theory for Beginners. This course unlocks the secrets of how colors relate and interact, enabling learners to craft vibrant images with ease. In 24 video lessons, I teach the relationships between colors and how we interact with them. I make complex color theory simple and approachable for students of all ages! Students from elementary to high school (and beyond) will have no trouble grasping the concepts I teach in these videos. This also comes with worksheets for students to use optionally.

I am grounding my soul.
I am being who I be.
A person who’s complex,
And likes to drink tea.

That’s why my Bestowing The Brush logo changed from all the words to just one: “b.”

Be, period.
You don’t have to do, do, do, do.
You can just be, be, be, be.

And that can be art, too.
You can be the art.
You can observe the art you’ve made of your life.
And you don’t have to document or share any of it at all.

There’s something sweet about the satisfaction of just existing with no demands on your time or your skills. I dare you to rest and ground yourself this summer. There’s not a better thing you could do for your art and your life.

Portraits, figures, abstracts, illustrations and sculpture gallery!

Followers and newsletter readers have asked me to share more of my personal work. That’s always risky in some way. My art lets you in to my inner world and it captures my most authentic expressions.

You’ll see a lot of femmes in my sketches and work. There’s so much about the feminine that is healing and wise, and I hope to really tap into that with my art.

See her curves,
Watch her work,
Feel her warmth,
It is life itself.

Know the vulnerability of being seen by her.
Know the vulnerability of being her.
Love her.
Let her guide you.
She is wisdom incarnate.

👉 Is there one piece that really speaks to you?

This weekend was packed with art and fashion events in Omaha! I’m so proud of my friends who had pieces in these shows, and who walked the runway, too! One friend in particular only started making visual art last year and has already shown work in two different galleries!!! 👏🏼👏🏼They say they have trouble with imposter syndrome, but showing up and being brave enough to submit (and getting accepted) has made them more confident and inspires them to keep going and developing themselves as artists.

You don’t need a degree or a piece of paper to tell you what you can or can’t do with your life. Always remember that!

Btw, the art/fashion show (pics in the white room) was a show featuring pieces made out of trash and recycled materials. Proving that art can be made with anything!

💚 Dallas
