UNO's Arnold Air Society The Earl S. Helmed by Col. Allen H. Earl S. The squadron bears its namesake in honor of Gen. Maj. Gen. Air Force Headquarters.

Hoag Squadron was established in 1951 as one of the defining aspects of the University of Omaha's newly formed Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment. Wood, Detachment 470, aka "The Wolfpack," soon achieved special recognition at the 1952 Arnold Air Society National Conclave for its creation of Angel Flight, which was designed to assist the AAS squadron in planning activities
