and becoming well known on UNO's campus. Hoag Squadron has since become a staple of the AFROTC experience at UNO, and its members are proud contributors to local community service functions. Hoag, who received, among other awards, the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and Air Medal for his service. Hoag had a lengthy career in the military, most notably helping the reorganization of the European Division of Air Transport Command in preparation for the invasion of Normandy during World War II. Hoag would later go on to serve various key functions in the newly established Air Force, such as becoming the special assistant to the Chief of Staff for reserve forces at the U.S. He retired in 1953 after a long and successful career, and members of the Earl S. Hoag Squadron continue his legacy of hard work and meticulous attention to detail.
