📚✨ A new chapter in learning is underway in SMM Middle School English/Language Arts!

Our new IB-supportive curriculum, Wit & Wisdom, is helping students develop key IB Learner Attributes—including being knowledgeable, open-minded, inquisitive, and effective communicators.

🔹 6th Grade: Students are collaborating to find text evidence and explore the lives of two characters during the Great Depression in Bud, Not Buddy. Their first module focuses on the powerful themes of resilience and survival.

🔹 7th Grade: Students defined hierarchy and charted society in the Middle Ages, gaining a deeper understanding of how society shapes identity.

🔹 8th Grade: Students created character basketball cards using quotations, biographies, and family connections from the verse novel The Crossover. They’ll continue exploring the power of storytelling as a personal, social, and cultural form of expression.

We’re excited to see our students thinking critically, collaborating, and making meaningful connections through literature! 📖💡

🙏 Thank you to Deacon Conzett for stopping by this morning to bless our 3rd graders’ new twine rosaries! 🙏

Each year, their teacher, Mrs. Gilman, lovingly makes a rosary for every 3rd grader. This year marks an incredible milestone—750 rosaries made for students over the past 19 years! ❤️

The students are looking forward to learning to pray the Rosary and growing closer to Jesus and His Blessed Mother 📿🙏

🎉 Wave your flag high and show YOUR Spartan Spirit! 💚
SMM Families - join us to walk in the Dundee Parade TOMORROW!
Meet at the Brownell-Talbot upper parking lot at 10:00 am for line-up. The parade starts at 10:30 down Underwood Ave.

🫶 Wear your Spartan gear and bring your flag to represent our parish and school as part of Welcome Weekend!
➡ Remember: The classroom with the highest attendance across Saturday's parade and Sunday's reception (after 10 am Mass in the Raynor Center) will win a Pizza Party topped off with Eileen's Cookies!

✅ Students: Don't forget your flag and tickets! All K-4 graders decorated flags today and brought home in place of throwing candy this year) Your child's teacher also gave each student two tickets for attendance. Students will place their tickets in the balloon buckets at the parade and the Sunday reception. The class with the most tickets wins!
