Happy August! It’s officially Back to School season Tiger Nation! Now is a great time to start building your school year routines- bedtimes, wake up times, screen time etc. Also a great time to make sure everything is in order for the health office- immunizations, medications, inhalers, allergies and anything else.

Important reminder that Kennedy school hours are switching this year to align to OPS elementary hours.
Drop-off/ Breakfast- 8:30am
Attendance/ Instruction- 8:50am
Dismissal- 4:05pm

We are excited for the 2026-27 school year! At Kennedy Elementary, our focus is on active lessons and strong family partnerships. We all work as one team from school to home, preparing students for success in college, career and life.

Important Information:

Monday, August 17th is Back-to-School Night from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 19th is the First Day of School for Kindergarten students ONLY

Thursday, August 20th is the First Day of School for all 1st – 5th graders

Wednesday, August 26th is the First Day of School for all Early Childhood students

Updated School and Breakfast Times: 8:50 to 4:05 with breakfast starting at 8:30 am. For student safety, do not drop students off until 8:30 as there is no one on duty to supervise.

Please make every effort for students to arrive each day on time and stay the entire school day. Every minute matters and we know that students who have good attendance habits at school are more likely to be reading on grade level.

Back-to-School Event
Our Kennedy Elementary Back-to-School night will be Monday, August 17th from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. You can meet your student’s teacher, check out their classroom and visit with our office staff, nurse and afterschool program director if needed.

First Days of School
In the first days of school, we will focus on learning routines and teaching high expectations for our students. You will see posters throughout our school with the positive behaviors we love to see. This evidence-based plan is called Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Behavior, or MTSS-B. What it means for students and families is clearly defined expectations, celebrations for achieving expectations and learning opportunities when a student is struggling.

This weekend Tiger Nation hosted its 2nd STEAM and Robotics Invitational hosting 5 schools and almost 30 teams. Participants competed in 3v3 robotics soccer, programming and a drone agility course. The weather was gloomy but the energy inside was electric! Congrats to all the winners. We hope see everyone again on April 26th at the MCC Fort Campus for Round 2.

Shout out to AIM Institute Youth in Tech and Metropolitan Community College (Nebraska) for helping make the event happen. Shout to Google volunteers who helped judge and run each event.

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to join Tiger Nation's 2nd Maker's Market event and supporting our young entrepreneurs! The energy was contagious and the smiles heartwarming! 17 out of 25 of the student businesses SOLD OUT. Thank you so much! We hope you'll join us next year!
