What a wonderful way to wrap up our Classic Tales unit! ✨🫖

Our 3rd graders celebrated by having a tea party inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland! 🐇🎩 They especially loved reading the tea party chapter, so getting to bring it to life made for a fun and memorable experience.

Thank you, Omaha World-Herald, reporter Luna Stephens, and photojournalist Chris Machian for this wonderful story and photos on all the hard work our staff, students, and families have done around attendance!

It was wonderful for the OWH to highlight Karen Western Elementary, and we are also so glad they highlighted how our entire district is doing. This is a massive, focused effort for our entire school community; together, we are doing some amazing things!

We are so proud of our results across the district and are going to keep working hard to reach our goal. This doesn't just happen. The strong partnership we have between our staff, students, and families, and the relationships we work so hard to build, are what make this all possible.

QUACKTASTIC ATTENDANCE! 🦆

We might be the Cardinals, but did you know one of Mr. Mather’s favorite things to collect is ducks?! 🐥

So this year, we decided to bring a little of that duck obsession to school with a brand-new way to celebrate GREAT ATTENDANCE!

Each week, the classroom with the best attendance will earn the Quacktastic Attendance Award! 🎉

And this isn’t just any award…

🦆 The winning class gets to keep our GIANT 5-foot duck in their classroom for the entire week!

🐥 Plus, each student in the winning class gets a duck of their own to add to their collection throughout the year!

We have a feeling our giant new friend is going to have quite the adventure traveling from classroom to classroom. We can’t wait to see where he ends up and what he gets into! 😂
