Non Breakfast arrival: Students not eating breakfast may enter through the main entrance beginning at 8:35 a.m.

First 10 days: Families who would like to walk their child to the classroom may do so. Please park in the first two rows of designated parking spaces or in the surrounding neighborhood when those spaces are full.

Tardy: The tardy bell rings at 8:50 a.m. Students arriving after 8:50 must check in at the main office.

Dismissal
Please make sure your child’s teacher knows your child’s daily dismissal plan.

Walking Home: Students will use the designated crosswalks at 42nd & V Streets or 42nd & U Streets. Crossing guards will assist students in safely crossing 42nd Street. Older students may meet younger siblings at their designated crosswalk.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Will exit out of the main entrance

2nd–5th Grade: Will exit out of the west/cafeteria entrance

Gateway Elementary Families,

We are excited for the 2026-27 school year! I am glad your student and family will be part of our school community. At Gateway Elementary, our focus is active lessons and strong family partnerships. We all work as one team from school to home, preparing students for success in college, career and life.

Back-to-School Event
Our Back-to-School night will be Monday, Aug. 17 from 5 to 6 p.m. You can meet your student’s teacher and visit with our staff.

First Days of School
• Wednesday, August 19th: Kindergarten only
• Thursday, August 20th: 1st- 5th
• Wednesday, August 26th: for Early Childhood

In the first days of school, we will focus on learning routines and teaching high expectations for our students. You will see posters throughout our school with the positive behaviors we love to see. This evidence-based plan is called Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Behavior, or MTSS-B. What it means for students and families is clearly defined expectations, celebrations for achieving expectations and learning opportunities when a student is struggling.
