It has been several years since Uta Halee has hosted an Open House. This all changed on June 5, 2024. Local stakeholders, family members, student athletes and ROP staff enjoyed a sunny afternoon filled with excitement and activities. Student athlete Contributors and Interns greeted guests with welcome bags and raffle tickets for a door prize. The festivities began with a meet-and -greet activity with food, followed with fellowship and outside games of co****le and horseshoe. Stakeholders were able to learn about Uta Halee through Program Director and other administrative staff members. Visitors then received a tour of the campus. At the conclusion of the tour, the families were able to participate in a parent-teacher conference for their student athletes. Finally, who could miss… You Scream, I Scream, we all Scream for Ice Cream!! Everyone was treated to an ice cream selection of their choice from a local ice cream truck vendor. The Open House for Uta Halee was a great success and we already look forward to next year's Open House!

Translated from Native American, Uta Halee means "On the Sunny Side."
Uta Halee Academy joyously marked its 10 Year Anniversary milestone with a grand celebration! The event brought together staff members, students, families, and various stakeholders who participated in various activities. Highlights included the unveiling of a Time Capsule assembled by Uta Halee Girls Village, acknowledging the significant milestones achieved by UHA over the past decade, and honoring the three staff members who have been with the institution since its inception. The ceremony concluded with all participants enjoying refreshments and desserts while reflecting on the accomplishments of the past several years.
Established and operated by the Uta Halee Girls Village in the 1950s, Uta Halee delved into its history within the Time Capsule, providing insights into its origins. A newsletter from the Spring of 2000 described the facility as "A local, non-profit psychiatric treatment center for emotionally disturbed girls." The Time Capsule also contained various items, including a Backstreet Boys "Millennium" CD, a floppy disk, articles on current events at Uta Halee, maps of Omaha and Uta Halee, as well as handmade items and pictures relevant to the decade and the original influencers of the program. While Uta Halee Girls Village closed its doors in 2010, Rite of Passage acquired and reopened the facility on December 2, 2013.
Uta Halee stands as the sole Rite of Passage site in Nebraska catering to at-risk girls within an open campus. Since its inception, UHA has served a substantial number of at-risk females, providing a diverse array of services over the past decade, including day school, crisis stabilization and emergency shelter services, group home, and transitional living. We look forward to serving youth for the next 10 years!

At Rite of Passage, rituals have always been a core element. This includes celebrating holidays with staff and students. Here at Uta Halee Academy, our young women recently participated in some exciting Halloween Festivities. Throughout the festivities, Uta Halee Academy students competed in a Pumpkin painting contest. While engaged in these activities, students enjoyed Halloween music, ate candy, and made their own caramel apples. In addition, staff members were able to get into the completive spirit as well. Staff members participated in a costume contest and a "Spooky Treat" contest. The winner for the best costume was Bugs Bunny from Space Jam. The winner for the spooky treats were a "bloody band aid," and a "mummy" treat!
Both staff and students were able to make some great memories during Halloween 2023!

Rite Now @ Uta Halee Academy
Everyone wins when we have a chance for a fun competition that engages staff and students.
Uta Halee Academy had its first ever Ping Pong, Peanut Butter, Tic Tac Toe Tournament. The resounding prediction from all is that it will not be the last.
The tournament lasted over two hours and students wanted to keep playing. Ping Pong, Peanut Butter, Tic Tac Toe is a great combination of a little bit of skill, a little bit of luck, and a lot of fun. The best part of the tournament was that our Uta Halee Champion is a student who was nervous to compete and said she wasn't going to do it. Our reluctant participant ended up winning eleven matches to be the tournament Champion! Giving our student athletes encouragement to participate, and be successful, in friendly competitions strengthens self-confidence and courage. This student athlete now has the winning bracket in her room to remind her of what can happen when you give something new a try.
