(Another one of my true stories)
Angels Found, On Every Corner-
A few years ago, I owned a beautiful home on an acreage near Papillion, NE. It was a quiet place, but just a stone's throw from a small rural town, the kind of town where one could shop for everything they need within a few hours.
Before we moved to the countryside; my elderly parents had just moved from New Hampshire to Papillion NE, to be close to me and my family.
My Dad figured it was a practical decision to move, this way they had someone that would take care of them, should the moment come when they needed assistance.
When we moved 6-miles away, my parents were concerned —If Mom wanted to visit me, she would have to drive her car, or us-come to visit them.
It’s not that Mom couldn’t drive, but she was just diagnosed with “Macular Degeneration”-an eyesight affliction that gets worse with time.
Well, Mom got to the point where Dad wouldn’t let her drive.anymore. He wanted to avoid her getting in an accident. It had became difficult for her to judge road markings and avoid obstacles as the disease progressed.
It was in a rainy day in Spring, when we were invited to a relatives cabin-located not far from our acreage.
My parents was also were invited and she wanted to join me, but not Dad. He had been watching a favored football game that afternoon.
We decided to agree to meet on a country road not far from the gathering.
The decided area was located on a curve with a deep 20’ ravine on one side, with the roadway on the other side.
Dad drove Mom to meet me there. When I saw their car parked, I became nervous because it had been raining and the roads were now slippery.
I decided to turn my car around the corner and come up from the back of there car. Unfortunately, next I hit a slick area and my choice was to drive into the back of their car, or turn towards the ravine.
When I hit my brake, the car hit the mud and slide downward, and almost flipped into a creek. Miraculously, the car stopped and my car was now standing sideways in the ravine—any movement from my body would cause the car to flip upside down.
I was petrified! Shaking and scared, I didn’t know what to do, and my parents couldn’t come to me or they would fall into the muddy ravine.
Just as I was about to just give up, a friendly plump woman called to me and said, “Hold on dear, help has arrived.”
Not to long after seeing the lady bystander’s friendly face, a man came up to my car window and started to talk to me.
This man had a calm demeanor, but his voice was commanding. For some reason, I had complete trust in him. He called me by my name, and told me methodically how put the car in a particular gear, then unlock the door and step out of the car.
What!
Just step out sideways in the mud?
Yet, I trusted him and did as I was told.
The rescue instructions worked, but when I went to thank the friendly man; he was gone. No vehicle and no man. The plump lady holding an umbrella, had disappeared as well.
I asked my Dad and Mom when the man left and they said, What man?” I said the one who helped me. They both don’t remember seeing a man, but did remember seeing the cheerful lady with the umbrella leave.
My parents had no recollection of any man. I described him as looking to be in his 50’s, with dark hair and a groomed beard. They still stated they hadn’t seen anyone.
I wanted to thank the man, but as fast as I got out of my tipped car, then hug my parents, he had vanished.
I do believe he and the woman were angels. The woman had comforted me, and the gentle man, gave me specific instructions for which I never questioned.
Yes, there are “Guardian Angels” akwYs watching over us.
