GCHS Director Dr. John Lowe has been named the recipient of the 2026 UNMC Graduate Studies Alumni Council Mid-Career Achievement Award. This honor recognizes alumni who graduated from the UNMC Graduate Studies Program within the past 11 to 25 years and have made distinguished contributions and achievements in their careers.

"HHS Secretary visits, praises med center facility"

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited UNMC’s National Quarantine Unit, where he praised the facility’s role in monitoring Americans exposed to hantavirus and called it a “legendary facility” and “mecca for biosecurity.” During his visit, Secretary Kennedy toured the Davis Global Center, learned about the C-STARS program, and recognized UNMC’s leadership in medical readiness and nutrition education.
