Young hitters spend way too much time trying to create power they haven't grown into yet. You don't need a bigger swing. You don't need to swing up. And you definitely don't need to turn every pitch into a home run.

Your job is to get the sweet spot to the baseball on time. Learn to barrel the ball consistently and let your strength develop. Eventually those doubles into the gap start turning into home runs. Learn to hit first and power will come later.

I remember the first time I saw Max Clark play. I was coaching our 2022s in Kansas City, and he was a year younger. You couldn't miss him. Big shoulders, ran like a deer, playing center field with the long blonde hair. I asked who he was and someone said, "That's Max Clark. Number one player in his class."

Yeah... that checked out. But what stood out beyond the baseball talent was how comfortable he was being himself. He understood personal branding, treated people the right way, and wasn't afraid to stick up for other players. It's cool seeing where his career has gone because people forget how long some of the best baseball players have been really, really good.

This thing feels like it came from the future. The Beyond Power VOLTRA might be one of the coolest pieces of strength training equipment we've added to the gym. Weight training, eccentric training, variable resistance, digital chains, arm care, rotational power, you can adjust everything at the touch of a button.

For baseball performance training, the versatility is ridiculous. We can move it between racks, customize resistance for different athletes, and track reps without dragging around a bunch of bands, chains, and extra equipment. Easily one of the best additions we've made to our baseball strength and conditioning setup this year.

They do the stuff nobody wants to do. Arm care, mobility, sleep, taking care of their body. They work in the offseason like somebody is coming for their spot, and they actually enjoy getting better instead of obsessing over stats. It's usually not the big stuff. It's doing the little things every day that everybody else eventually stops doing. If you're doing that, keep going. You might be closer than you think.

12U, 13U, 14U players, high school baseball is coming whether you're ready or not. Once tryouts start, nobody cares what you did in travel baseball. Coaches want to know what you can do right now to help the team.

As you get older, the player pool gets smaller. Don't follow the crowd. Keep improving your hitting, throwing, strength, speed, and baseball IQ. Your job is simple: stay in the pool. Be ready when your opportunity comes.

The man pulled off one of the most legendary moves in baseball movie history, married Wendy Peffercorn, had nine kids, and owned the local drugstore. Benny might've been the best baseball player on The Sandlot... but Squints was the legend.

One of the biggest adjustments hitters need to make as pitching velocity increases is learning how to load and control their stride. Your load isn't just picking your foot up and putting it back down. It's about engaging your hips, staying connected to your back leg, building momentum, and controlling when your front foot lands.

When that front foot hits the ground, you need to be ready to swing. If you land, stop, and then try to generate your swing, you've already lost the energy you created, and against higher velocity, you're going to be late. Build momentum, control the load and land ready to hit.

Baseball parents, sometimes the best thing you can say after your player swings and misses is... nothing. Your reaction can magnify everything that happens on the field. Even a well-intended "You're okay!" can accidentally tell a player that something just went wrong.

A swing and miss isn't a crisis, it’s information. Reset and get ready for the next pitch. Stop teaching players that baseball is a game of failure. Teach them that baseball is a game of learning. They're developing their swing, confidence, approach, and understanding of the game every time they step into the batter's box.

The smaller sweet spot gives you better feedback, forces you to barrel the baseball more consistently, and helps develop better hand-eye coordination and swing mechanics. For younger players, just find a properly sized youth wood bat and let them learn. There's a reason high-level baseball players train with wood.
