Here are a few tips--friend to friend-- to help you succeed this year. 👊

#1: Read your syllabus: Yes! You'll actually need to read the syllabus your professor posts. It's often misunderstood that faculty create those in their free time for personal enjoyment, in hopes they'll be asked "when's that due again?" But evidently... they don't🤷‍♀️

#2: Plan out your week: Ignorance is bliss? Only when it comes to the ingredients that were in your day-old burrito you consumed on your way to class. NOT when planning your study and classwork schedules. Know what you're going to work on before the week begins (hint! you'll need tip number one to help with this)

#3: Prepare your space: Turns out your mother was right! (you should call her btw) Your environment reflects your mood. A clean, organized space matters. Clear your study space of clutter and stock up on school supplies before classes are in full swing. Whether in a dorm or living off-campus, create an inviting space to come home to so you can study, relax, recharge, and have the best year you can have.

Welcome back, Mavericks! Oh how we've missed you. 💋

Partnerships are at the heart of building workforce-ready skills.

A special thank you to the Center for Applied Psychological Services (CAPS) for partnering with the Center for Competencies, Skills, and Workforce Development (CCSW) to support the development of two of UNO's Top 10 Skills for 2025–26: Interpersonal Relationships and Coordinating. The CAPS team helped identify how these skills are developed in the classroom and created practical, evidence-informed assessments for faculty to use across a variety of disciplines.

"This partnership was a strong example of how IO psychology can support workforce-focused learning by translating faculty expertise into practical tools that help students document skills employers care about."

Special thank you to Roni Reiter-Palmon, William Kramer, Hanna Johnston, and the entire CAPS team for their collaboration and commitment to helping students develop the skills that matter most in today's workforce.
