Important Health & Safety Notice for Parents 🦠 DO NOT DRUG & DROP YOUR CHILD OFF

Sending children to school or childcare after giving Tylenol or ibuprofen to “get through the day” is dangerous and puts everyone at risk.

These medications do not treat illness, they only reduce fever and pain. When a fever is masked, a child may appear well enough to attend, but their body is still fighting an infection. This can lead to:

• Worsening illness in your child

• Delayed medical care when it’s truly needed

• Increased spread of contagious illnesses to other children and staff

• Serious complications, including febrile seizures or dehydration going unnoticed

• Staff missing early warning signs because symptoms are hidden

In group care settings, one medicated child can expose dozens of others—including infants, immune-compromised children, pregnant staff, and families with medically fragile members.

Most schools and childcare programs require children to be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning. This policy exists to protect your child—not to inconvenience families.

If your child needs fever-reducing medication, their body is telling you they need rest, monitoring, and care at home.

You MUST have reliable secondary care available to keep your child home. Ask neighbors, friends, other parents etc to be back up care for your sick child. Sick children do not belong at school or in a childcare setting.

Typically staff know when your child is drugged and dropped off because their fever magically appears around lunch time when the medicine wears off. Please know this is SO dangerous and a term-able offense.

We understand how hard it is to miss work or rearrange schedules—but health and safety must come first. Please help us protect all children, families, and staff by keeping sick children home.

Thank you for doing your part.
