At Brighten our Future Early Learning Center we know that early childhood education cannot be separated from the realities families face at home. A child cannot fully thrive when families are worried about where their next meal is coming from.

That is why our mission has always gone beyond childcare. Through our wrap-around approach, we work to support the whole family by connecting them with resources, community partnerships, and access to basic needs including food support.

Our upcoming People’s Picnic is more than just a community event. It is a reflection of what we believe: that families deserve dignity, connection, nourishment, and a village that shows up for them. We hope you can join us!

To all the professionals in early childhood education in Nebraska, all the teachers, educators, assistants, directors, janitors, cooks and peers in our field, we thank you. We’re so grateful for your compassion, patience, joy and commitment to providing the best care possible for our littlest Nebraskans. We see all the hard work and effort you put in, every day. We also see the fruits of your labor in how elementary school children in our state are not only ready to learn, they love learning! We hope you feel appreciated today, and always. You have a very important role, and you matter. 💗

Because of an incredibly generous donation of a deep freezer, we’re now able to store more meat and provide more complete, nourishing meals to the families we serve.

This is what community care looks like—neighbors showing up in meaningful, practical ways that create real impact. Access to protein is often one of the hardest gaps to fill, and this gift helps us bridge that gap with dignity and consistency.

Jason Gentry thank you for seeing a need and meeting it in such a powerful way. Your support is helping ensure that families don’t just get food—they get full meals.
